Former Employee – worked at Facebook
Pros – good perks, great environment. high respect for engineers and high salaries. you can develop your ideas and own your project
Cons – you need to be prepared to work hard and compete with very smart people. unstable decisions at the management level.
Advice to Senior Management – lack of bureaucracy and the flat friendly organization sometimes has a downside that a lot of agreements and decisions are verbal and unofficial. which lead to unstable decisions. changes in design and waste of effort.

Pros – In general, there is a high level of autonomy given to employees. We're treated like adults and given lots of responsibility. The perks are unreal compared to other places I've worked. The atmosphere is fun yet serious. We're very lucky to work here overall.
Cons – A stretched thin workforce makes for lots of pressure and heavy workload; it's hard to get everything done. Sometimes it's difficult to strike a work/life balance. There's a clique-ish aspect to the place, where the "cool kids" get the recognition and more opportunity to move around and advance.
Advice to Senior Management – You're doing a great job strategically. I'm happy with the overall direction of the company and our products. I just wish there were a little less favoritism shown by middle management.

Former Employee – worked at Facebook
Pros – Great place to work with some of the young and brightest people in the world. A great addition to your resume and you get to work on products that everyone that you know will use.
Cons – Too many Managers and ideas. Sometimes too many cooks in the kitchen will spoil the food. And that is what happens at Facebook. But then again, that is the growing pains that Facebook is going through. Also most of the innovative products have been implemented and a lot of focus now is on maintenance and tweaking. Nothing much to be excited about.
Advice to Senior Management – Treat your developers with respect and acknowledge their work and successes. Essentially they are ones who are keeping the company alive.

Former Employee – worked at Facebook
Pros – perfect company for career, a fun environment, fun people, lots of genius level people, company grows rapidly and continuously, a very good place to work, pre-IPO company
Cons – mid level managers are inexperienced and do lots of mistakes, salaries are not so bright but company is pre-IPO and it is a good opportunity
Advice to Senior Management – fix mid level management, listen employees feedback {yes, much more} especially their reviews about mid level managers, try to understand why so many people are leaving

Former Employee – worked at Facebook
Pros – Really smart people that care about building a great product. It's clear that people are really excited about what they are doing.
Cons – It's getting political and seems like there is a lot of jockeying. That's not great for an engineer who really cares about making a great product. It gets in the way.
Advice to Senior Management – The Company could benefit from cutting out some of the people that contribute to a political environment. It would make a more productive place to work.
