They take care of their employees, but experience will vary with manager.

Intermediate Engineer Project Lead (Former Employee) Portland, ME

ProsThe HR people I dealt with were all very helpful and friendly. There are pockets of excellence in strategic thinking, and people who are subject matter experts.

ConsManagement often has unclear or conflicting messages. There is pervasive mediocrity that is difficult to cut through.

Advice to Senior ManagementGive more power to the proven agents of change. Don't swamp good people with firefighting.

At the forefront of technology - great place to work and learn

Engineer (Former Employee) Colorado Springs, CO

ProsWe worked at a remote site for Fairchild. The work environment was relaxed and, at the same time, intense, but always, enjoyable. The employees, at our site and other offices (East and West coast corporate), are exceptional. In today's marketplace, when comparing Fairchild to many other corporate entities, Fairchild stands out as they care for their employees. It was a great place to work.

ConsUnfortunately, in the corporate world, nothing lasts forever. After many local lay-offs over several years, our facility was finally closed. Many of the final employees were offered relocation packages. Those who were not, were offered reasonable and fair separation packages.

Yearly roller coaster, but great place to work!

Staff Software Engineer (Current Employee) Salt Lake City, UT

ProsExcellent benefits, company matching 401k, flexible times for personal reasons

ConsOften hits hard times around Q4. Likes to perform layoffs as part of short-term cost-cutting measure

Advice to Senior ManagementSeriously analyze the effects of short-term cost cutting measures that affect long-term results! People are your most valuable resources.

Good place for both career advancement and family life

    FAE (Current Employee) Modesto, CA

ProsCompany is driven to do well but also leaves room for having life outside of work. Pay and benefits are very good. Plan going forward is solid with good focus. Excellent Strategic customer focus through out the company.

ConsPoor Regional Sales plan with to much focus on regional revenue (shipping) and not enough focus on growing design wins and working across regions to grow second level revenue. Learning to have more upside capacity but slow to setup causing severe pain in regional sales chain.

Advice to Senior ManagementFocus on grow brand awareness and winning sockets, less focus on losing sockets based on price at CM. Focus and teamwork on important end equipments and winning at the top customers. Utilize the knowledge gained here to produce better support material to be used by both regional sales and distribution to expand customer pool.

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) South Portland, ME

ProsIf you want to know the right way to run a facilities dept... maint, eng, eviro, etc. Fairchild SoPo does it right and by the book. Great place to work.

Best site managment team I've worked for.

Conslike anywhere else, do more with less. Everyone is spread very thin but thats better than staring layoffs in face.

Advice to Senior ManagementNeed better health ins... copays too high for specialists.
Need to bring back stock purchase plan.
    401K match could be better.
