I have been working at Fairmont Hotels & Resorts (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Fairmont runs 4- and 5-Diamond resorts all over the world, so what a great opportunity to use travel benefits!
The Fairmont spas are beautiful and the Scottsdale Princess (in Arizona) has a wonderful staff of massage therapists.
It's lovely to work in such a great location and have a spa and resort you can really be proud of.
The Fairmont is a very valuable place to have on your resume!

    Cons

The employee spaces look like an old high school (painted cinder blocks), which can be jarring when you step from 5-Diamond beauty into ugly underground hallways.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You have such a wonderful staff, but the scheduling practices can become tedious after the 2nd (unpaid) hour on the couch. It would promote health and wellness if we had a pager system that would allow staff members to go on walks or even off-campus for food during large schedule gaps.

    Pros

This company pays well and has decent benefits. There are many opportunities for advancement and travel. They also have good prices when booking hotel rooms at other properties.

    Cons

There are many long days that are difficult especially if you are a salaried manager. They are unionized which makes it difficult to get rid of bad employees that dont want to work.

    Pros

Pretty much managing 5-6 positions at a time. Really good for college students or recent grads looking to get a lot of hours in. Definitely built my interpersonal skills and taught me how to do heavy multitasking.

    Cons

They sometimes overwork you, but that's expected in a laborious position like this.

I worked at Fairmont Hotels & Resorts

    Pros

There are a lot of pros for working in hospitality. There is always room for growth due to the various departments, travel is easy and you get to meet people from all over the world.

    Cons

Communication lagged a bit. There were times that a situation could have been prevented if there was communication between all departments
