    Pros

Worked with great people who were very interested in guest satisfaction.

Managers showed a lot of favoritism in regards to promotions.

    Advice to Management

Promote based on skill level, instead of personal preferences.

    Pros

Fairmont takes care of their staff as they genuinely care about their employees. Happy staff = happy guests. Benefits are great.

    Cons

This is not a company for people who are not serious about their jobs- it is a high class company that expects a high level of service and professionalism, it may not be everyone's cup of tea.

    Advice to Management

Pay rates could be better at some properties- however I can't speak for them all. Overall it is a good company to work for, I feel valued as an employee.

I worked at Fairmont Hotels & Resorts full-time

    Pros

Travel and staying at beautiful properties. Four pillars shows that when you have happy employees you get happy guests who spend more dollars which make the owners happy that in turn is good for the brand

    Cons

Evolving corporation. Like with many companies when you have to deal with offsite corporate initiatives can be very time consuming

    Advice to Management

Continue with the training to keep the consistency throughout the brand. Don't expect your colleagues to know 5 star service without showing them

I worked at Fairmont Hotels & Resorts full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

They offer great employee benefits such as health insurance and cheap rooms for employees. They also go the extra mile to make the guests happy.

    Cons

The raises were very small even if you got excellent reviews. You also have to work all the major holidays, but this is how it is in most resort towns.

    Advice to Management

Management was good, they were all about giving the guests the best experience possible. Good about not nickle and dimming the customers.

I have been working at Fairmont Hotels & Resorts (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Fairmont runs 4- and 5-Diamond resorts all over the world, so what a great opportunity to use travel benefits! The Fairmont spas are beautiful and the Scottsdale Princess (in Arizona) has a wonderful staff of massage therapists. It's lovely to work in such a great location and have a spa and resort you can really be proud of. The Fairmont is a very valuable place to have on your resume!

    Cons

The employee spaces look like an old high school (painted cinder blocks), which can be jarring when you step from 5-Diamond beauty into ugly underground hallways.

    Advice to Management

You have such a wonderful staff, but the scheduling practices can become tedious after the 2nd (unpaid) hour on the couch. It would promote health and wellness if we had a pager system that would allow staff members to go on walks or even off-campus for food during large schedule gaps.
