    Pros

The positives of working at FV are not exactly few, just not enough to outweigh the cons. First it is a good place to work multiple jobs at because of schedule updating system. Secondly it's a relatively easy job as long as you like walking quite a bit, which I never minded. Lastly having the option to rent some movies for free at the part time level is nice.

    Cons

    No breaks or sitting time
Challenging to move up to higher positions
Laughable commissions ($1 before taxes for the best up sale)
    Low pay
On call shifts almost always week if not multiple times per week
Expectation to run cash to the bank or to drive across town to get smaller currency denominations on your dime
No recognition for achievements from sales or for compliments from customers
    Overworked managers
Requirement to take hours during holiday seasons

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Always remember the little people, they are a good chunk of the reason that customers become regulars or come back in general

    Pros

I loved 90% of the people I worked with.
There are lots of opportunities for advancement if you are willing to put in the time.
    Free rentals
I would only recommend this company for anyone looking for a part time job.

    Cons

A lot of hours for very little pay.
No base salary raises unless you are moving into a high position. Moving you to a larger store is what they consider a raise. So you end up with more staff, a larger store to maintenance, and not a very big increase in commission.
Upper management is very good about giving you huge to-do lists but doesn't offer any help or suggestions for getting it done.

    Pros

Run it like it's your own business.

    Cons

You must relocate to advance. Pay isn't that great, hourly salary position.

    Pros

It's an easy job as a customer service rep. Very straight forward. Our's had a marco's pizza connected so we got free pizza a lot.

    Cons

Not the best management. Went through 4 managers in the course of 3 months. Not a lot of room for growth.

Current Employee - Customer Service Representative in Fond du Lac, WI

    Pros

-Get movies a week before they come out
-The people that work there are nice
    -Discount at Marco's pizza

    Cons

-Having to wear dress clothes at a physical job
-standing constantly with no break room for hours
-break room is also employee bathroom
-Pay starts out extremely low and maxes out at $9 for part time

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Having people dress in business attire to work at a movie place is a little much. Also not giving employees breaks and not having a break room makes work uncomfortable.

    Pros

The overall job was really great. There's always something there to keep you busy. The rush isn't difficult and you never really feel too much pressure from customers--a definite plus.

    Cons

The upper management for my particular store was awful. When I was hired they did not spend very much time on my training and it didn't even get completed. There was a lot that I was left not knowing how to do, such as inventory and certain cash register function. The on-call shifting was terrible because of the 'running a 1, 2, or 3' system. It's a problem from the employees as It's not fair to make them waste their entire day sitting by the phone wondering if they'll even get to work that day or not.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please take better care of your smaller stores and make sure people are actually running them well. Eliminate that "1, 2, 3" system for deciding how many employees work.

    Pros

Free movies all the time. Potential to grow with the company, although it doesn't seem that they are looking to promote from within very often.

    Cons

Must work a minimum of 44 hours and they expect you to work no less than 47 for the same pay. I live 45 minutes away from my location, and can not move because I may not be staying at my location for much longer. I was told I would know within 2 weeks and without notice the 2 weeks became 3 months.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Do what you say you are going to do and come to the store when you say you are going to.

    Pros

Flexible hours, good for college student.

    Cons

Raises are non-existent, open all holidays, no schedules breaks no matter how long your shift. Openers often work 9-7 alone with no relief.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop hiring out of desperation. If your are going to make employees do reviews on managers than listen to what they have to say. If more than half the staff is saying the same thing it is probably worth paying attention too.
