    Pros

Depends on which plant you work at and who your corporate director is

    Cons

getting answers from the corporate office; feeling like your working together and not against each other

I have been working at Farmland Foods

    Pros

Great people -- smart and earnest. Pride in the company, its products and what it stands for. Evident desire to be the best

    Cons

Very siloed. In the midst of a lot of change, a tendency towards infighting for "my turf." Some major changes poorly managed, due to limited cross-functional planning.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Start an OGSM and discuss it with all employees ... not just where the company is going but how we're going to get there ... to create pride & accountability. Your people are capable of performing at a much higher level, in the right culture

I have been working at Farmland Foods full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Fair HR solutions to conflicts, great benefits packages

    Cons

Racial issues, Abuse of power from supervisors. Line speed can be too fast sometimes. Red hats increase line speed . More abuse of power on second shift than first shift

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The management need not to rely on trainers when dealing with conflicts resolutions with workers that need English/French. Hispanic translators.Management need independent mystery shoppers to investigate cases

I have been working at Farmland Foods full-time

    Pros

Farmland Foods emerged from Farmland Industries and had a fantastic corporate culture, a great employee morale, and was self aware of process issues and identified ways to move forward. There was no better place to be.

    Cons

During the last 2 years it has de-volved, it is an environment of fear and blame - creating a paranoid and overworked workforce who fear making mistakes -and therefore - take no rises. It is a sad, mediocre place. There is no direction from the top, nor the middle.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Involve workforce in suggestions and implementation of process and perhaps even some philisophical corporate changes. Remember that the Customer is more important than the road blocks you are putting up to prevent them from getting your products.

I have been working at Farmland Foods

    Pros

I am very impressed with the amount of emphasis and promotion that Farmland puts on higher education for their employees. The tuition reimbursment amount is twice that of comparable companies. Management really walks the walk with regards to "personal" improvement. They recently agreed to match half of the employee's cost to join a local fitness center. Focused is the best way to describe Management's style. Farmland is really about their "People" and the "Team". Results focused is the common theme and everyone plays to win. I feel fortunate that I have yet to meet anyone here that I don't like, everyone is pleasant and enjoys showing up to give 110%.

    Cons

Progressive for a meat company there are still some outdated ideas at work here.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to listen to the people, they are your greatest strength.
