    Pros

    - Great opportunities for advancement. - In my experience, promotions are due performance not tenure. If you work hard you can move up quickly. - You are given the ability to give yourself raises by increasing your sales. - Fastenal is only open weekdays. This means no nights and weekends! Most branches are open M-F, 7-5. Even if you work all day every day, a 50 hour week is not unexpected for a management position. Most managers work something in the 7-4 range. (This would be tedious however for one of the sales positions who are not receiving the same type of compensation if you were forced to work the entire day. This will largely depend on your GM but I have not seen Outside Sales forced to work these hours often).

    Cons

    - With smaller branch sizes, things can become overwhelming if one or two employees move on or quit. - As with any commissioned sales job, if you have a poor sales month, it will reflect on your check. - There are some branches that are less desirable to work at or be assigned to because the sales opportunities are not as great due to a smaller market or poor local economy. However, in my experience, if you do well you will have the ability to transfer to a more desirable store after the standard two your commitment at a location.

    Advice to Management

I believe things are currently moving in the right direction. The increased investment in store personnel was needed. Keep this direction up!

    Pros

Awesome training. Learn a lot of new things every day. See a different side of business different from working in a grocery or department store. Decentralized decision making allows for store flexibility.

    Cons

Hard to finish a task without being given another task that needs to be done immediately. Full time employees are completely separate entities with different rules than part time employees

    Pros

Great People, the entire office pretty much got along. Relaxed Work Atmosphere, nobody seems to be in too big of a rush. Managers work well with part-time employees.

    Cons

Disorganized, the store and storage area could both use an overhaul in organizational aspects. Part-timers can only work 30 hours. Overall a great place to work, not too many cons.

    Advice to Management

    More organization

    Pros

Great training programs. Freedom to run your store in your own way. Great Benefits. Great work life balance.

    Cons

Pay is on the lower side for a base salary. Vertical movement is tougher the farther distance you are from regional offices.

    Pros

Flexibility, Great staff and management, promote from within. The management in T-hub is younger, and are very open to hearing out new ideas and strategies to solve problems. T-hub was a really interesting warehouse to work in. New facility, so everyone there was getting acquainted with new machinery and software. As such, lots of daily issues would arise in trying to smooth out things like software glitches, issues with totes getting stuck in the conveyors or cranes. However, it presented a lot of opportunities for employees to demonstrate their problem solving skills, and patience. Some people might see it as annoying, but I looked at it as a way to help the company. Management recognized people who put in the effort, and while it didnt result in more hours or a pay raise, it certainly puts you at the top of the list to be considered for a promotion.

    Cons

If you're part time, they mean it. Nobody is allowed to work more than 28hrs in a week as a part timer. However, full time is considered 32 hrs. So anything over that is overtime, but they're very strict about it. Not really a con, but if you want more hours as a part timer, it just wont happen.

    Advice to Management

    None
