  1. They don't care about their contractors.

I have been working at FedEx

    Pros

As a driver working for a contractor you do have work.

    Cons

As a tractor trailer driver and a OTR driver running teams. They suck they treat drivers like crap they don't care if they get you home when they are suppose. They leave you set while you watch loads go out the gate on Prime, CRST, CR England and US Express.

    Advice to Management

Take better care of the road drivers than you do.

  2. Company isn't loyal to its employees and employees are underpaid. This use to not be the case but things have changed

    Pros

I enjoy having flexible hours and the benefits are really good. The staff where I'm at is very friendly

    Cons

Work a crazy amount of hours and there is constant pressure

    Advice to Management

Get back to putting people first. There was a time when upper management cared about things like quality of life. This just isn't the case anymore

    Pros

Camaraderie. Everyone becomes like family. Some coworkers you will have longer than the time youve known your spouse or longer than your kids are old. very easy to get very comfortable.

    Cons

the silos run very tall, very narrow, very deep. You will do one thing and one thing alone. You will not have a chance to get into anything new. Too political to move around the company. Since the 2009 layoffs and the 2013 buyouts, there has been a complete culture change. no longer people first. thats a forgotten myth. Profit, Service, people. Stock prices are at all time high, because they are screwing the employee. 7 years ago, FedEx would have gotten 5 stars. Today, they get 2 stars. They have lost their vision.

    Advice to Management

The company is very top heavy. invest in your employees. They are not factory workers stamping out widgets. Bring back people first. You lay off and you push people out the door and then you create 3 more Senior Vice President positions. That speaks volumes.

    Pros

People first philosophy. Relaxed work environment. Low house price.

    Cons

Most employees have no interest in learning new things. Even if some of them do, they are discouraged by management.

    Advice to Management

Try new things to attract younger employees with new way of thinking or doing work.

    Pros

The pay and benefits are okay, if you land the right gig. Lots of time to daydream, as very few tasks require thought to complete.

    Cons

Not much room for advancement unless you're willing to move to Memphis. Communication is poor and morale is low year round. Peak season (December) is a nightmare.

    Pros

Tech Center has a decent workout facility, reasonably priced for employees & contractors.

    Cons

Below-market pay for FTEs. On-site contractors are shown the door after just 11 months.

    Advice to Management

Downsizing via attrition is a recipe for low morale. Cut costs elsewhere, like top-heavy upper management in Memphis.
