Best biglaw firm you could work for.

Associate (Former Employee) Mountain View, CA

ProsTop practice in the country for corporate law for tech companies. Partners are supportive and friendly--no one yells at you, partners seem to actually care about your career development and overall well-being. Associates are treated better at Fenwick than at any other firm I've heard of.

ConsIt's still a law firm, so there will be long hours and the work can be monotonous. As an attorney, there isn't great 24 hour support staff coverage. At other firms I've heard you always have paralegals and assistants to help you out at all hours. This is sort of true at Fenwick, but the staff that's around overnight is minimal, so they're not always available to help you.

A high quality firm with reasonable work/life balance.

    Patent Engineer (Former Employee)

ProsGenerally a good group of people that are enjoyable to work with. A chance to work on important and interesting subject matter. Above average compensation. Part time options for attorneys not looking to bill a large number of hours can be a bonus to some.

ConsNo significant downsides, though a significant amount of work is required. It became clear that the type of work involved in the profession was not for me long term.

Great place for High Tech professionals

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) Mountain View, CA

ProsFenwick is a great and fun place to work. Employees are treated fairly, pay and benefits are good. They are on the leading edge of business technology and always looking to improve. The workload can be heavy at times, but is well balanced.

ConsOne could almost say good to a fault... The employees tend to stick around a long time, so there may not be a ton of room for advancement fresh ideas coming in.

Great place to LEARN with great management

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) Mountain View, CA

ProsMy co-workers are very warm and caring people. I am open to ask questions to my managers and get suggestions/advice/answers. That is completely different from the last firm, question for a question that ended up making me feel stupid. The benefits of kitchen things like milk, half & half, coffee (Peets and Starbucks), sodas always a plus. Beautiful building with great views of Mountain View, CA.

Working for an amazing and inspiring legal firm in the bay area. You can learn a lot from management, the work that you are involved in, and be inspired by management skills. Big clients, internationally involved, very green, and great people to share ideas and learn from everyone.

ConsNo growth opportunity yet in my department.

Advice to Senior ManagementKeep up the great work. I enjoyed my temp position and hope to be perm in the near future. Proud to work for Fenwick & West.

Cutting edge work, often very busy, but great environment.

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

    ProsInteresting and unobjectionable clients.
Creativity and client service are valued over sheer quantity of hours worked.
Employer's attention to professional development, diversity, and need for life outside of work.

ConsLike any firm this size, there are occasionally very busy periods that demand a lot of accommodation from employees' families.

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend
