Good company, but you have to know the right people for advancement.

    OUTSIDE SALES (Former Employee)
    Norfolk, VA

ProsWork hard play hard environment. Product knowledge skyrockets. Good exposure to all businesses serviced.

ConsLittle or no family balance. Saturday shift work and inventory time is a pain and often not compensated for.

Advice to Senior ManagementNeed to get rid of the weasel managers who just use outside sales numbers to feather their own cap.

The typical model of corporate America

    Inside Sales Associate (Former Employee)
    Richmond, VA

ProsThe people you work with are usually good people, team players, and are willing to help one another.

ConsThe compensation is fair, but perhaps could be better considering the hours put in. You will definitely have to be part of the good ole boy network if you expect to advance. Unfortunately your hard work and performance may only get you a pat on the back.

Advice to Senior ManagementReward based on performance and not based on brown nosing.

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsFerguson gives one an opportunity to sell numerous products, which allows you to be successful in both New Construction & Remodels

3 and one half at most

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsGreat health benefits, holiday pay, some flexibility, basically guaranteed hours

ConsVery, VERY, corporate. Employees act in spite of each other constantly. If you're in sales, you're working 50 hours per week, so there's zero work life balance. Favoritism plays a huge role in the ranks.

Advice to Senior ManagementStop the favoritism.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

    Good people but bad management

front line support technician (Former Employee)
    Newport News, VA

ProsVery knowledgeable people, always willing to help you advance you knowledge of the systems. Willing to work with you on anything that come up in personal life.

ConsOnly moves up if you are in with the right people. They look to much at the numbers and not the person or the support that is given. Managers are not seen on the floor, or care about the employees

Advice to Senior ManagementTake time to ask employees how they are doing
