I worked at Finish Line part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

The 30% discount is defintely the biggest perk of working for Finish Line. Depending on the season, it can be a fast paced environment. It also keeps you up to d ate on the latest shoes & sports apparel.

    Cons

When in training, several different people trained you different ways. Management doesn't treat all workers fairly; For ex, rules & regulations don't apply to everyone .

    Terribly treated seasonal employee

I have been working at Finish Line

    Pros

There were none I was only given 2 days in total as a employee, not because of inability to work because i was never put on the schedule or trained.

    Cons

To many for only 20 words but to sum up felt unutilized, unimportant, disregarded, uncomfortable, and humiliated. All in all a regretful experience.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't hire a new employee and say you don't remember hiring him a week later, also be truthful I was told no Jordan's we're to be held for employees which I understood. Only to figure out the part and full time employees were ALWAYS given opportunities to purchase them.

I worked at Finish Line full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

The discounts were good. Being located in the mall was good. Meeting different people that come in. Also the schedule flexibility.

    Cons

The managers suck. One has actually been fired since I left. They hire you uo be a cashier but then turn around and want you to be a sales associate but you can't get commission.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The management team should honor what the employees applied for. Also keep everything business and not flirt with employees.

    Pros

Good employee discount and you're almost guarenteed the latest Jordan release.

    Cons

Racial slurs were thrown around daily. Horrible hours. Horrible scheduling. Ignorant employees. You must understand that most of your associates are not college educated and unprofessional "sneaker heads." Not a good team environment. During 6months of working, management held not 1 meeting to discuss concerns/progress with emploees. They simply don't care what you think!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Set higher standards. Have employee meetings. Ensure company policy is being followed by ALL employees, including fellow managent.

I have been working at Finish Line part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

    Flexible Schedule
    Decent co-workers
You get to work alone a lot, if you're like me and like that.

    Cons

I work for the Finish Line, Macy's stores, and it's a joke.
    No hours to give.
Working by yourself can get lonely
We never have any of the sizes in the shoes anyone wants to buy.
Macy's doesn't seem to act like they want us there, so I don't see why we bother.
We are in Macy's, take their credit cards, but not their coupons. It' SO FUN to tell hundreds of customers that.
We never have any coupons or discounts for our customers.
    Our goals are ridiculous.
Goals are individualized which doesn't help teams develop and work together.
We are punished for customers not buying accessories.
We are expected to be pushy and force products onto customers.
Responded to an ad for full-time, "manager-in-training" : turns out every one is a "manager-in-training", just a fancy word for sales associate. Also, only get maybe 10 hours a week if I'm lucky.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

For one, maybe instead of having individual goals, have store goals. Enforcing the "we" concept for your business, instead of individuals being called out and written up. For two, I'd rather not get the extra commission, if you would change the policy to that. Send out coupons, do promos. Buy a sofsole and get 5%, 10%, $5 off your shoe purchase. I mean, it's ridiculous. Keep stores stocked! I've lost SO MANY sales because we don't have their size. I've had so many people put down an extra shoe, or even all their considered purchases because we don't accept coupons. Don't punish employees for not making the sales. They try really hard, but we can't force people to buy extras. Be honest about the jobs you're advertising. If you had, I would have never applied.

I worked at Finish Line part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Discounts were the only thing that kept me there.

    Cons

    Very unorganized
Managers, including District Manager were of no help
Waited 8+ months for Wi-Fi internet and never got it, again DM was terrible
Manager did nothing but sit on his phone all day in the stockroom

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Hire competent managers.

I worked at Finish Line full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Finish line has a good discount and good benefits for it's employees. It's a very fun atmosphere to work.

    Cons

Horrible leadership in mid-level management, If you are trying to be promoted they would rather get rid of you before they train you. The training programs suck across the board. The company is very cheap when it comes to producing good people.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

More focus on it's DM training program, too many managers have left the company because DM'S don't know how to train managers and they are afraid that they are going to replace the dm's.

I worked at Finish Line full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Pros that is a good one none what so ever

    Cons

Management is always pushing for more no room to move up can move down and take a up cut of half your salary and get promised things that will never happen they do that to the associates as we'll making like they are going to move up but just have them doing more work

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get a real store managers in the stores that don't put everyone below them down like the West Covina stores a manger does as well as the los cerrtios store and make sure the DMs do what they say they will do not just pushing things off
