    There is never a finishline

    Anonymous (Former Employee) Tampa, FL

ProsFirst working their back in 07' you had ready access to almost any shoe and product in store at discount. The store was about team work and unity and working as a team. We used to be family like as a company. They used to promote within and celebrate employees who did exceptionally well. Great first job. Teaches you great customer service skills and great relationship building.

ConsUpper managment keeps changing philosophies and values. Out of 7 years I only received 4 raises. 2 of which where received within promotions as well as have two cuts in pay due to change in pay structure. Finishline also lost its value in quality of life. We were not a team anymore. We were a bunch puppets that are dispossable at a dime. It feels like walmart. We used to have pride for the company because they had pride in us.that has now changed.

Advice to Senior ManagementTry to actually help your teams instead of having them jump through 10,000 hoops just for you to cut our pay.... again. Stay consistant in some aspects. Show appreciation to the staff. They will show it back.

    Okay job, but doesn't promote.

Sales Associate (Current Employee) Plainfield, IN

ProsAbility to talk and get paid, Learn how a business runs, talkative co-workers, based on commission so hope for higher pay. Nice working environment.

ConsDead-end job. Not the best pay. No promotional opportunity. Too much work to attempt to get a raise. Some members are the best at what they do and don't get rewarded for it.

Advice to Senior ManagementTry and promote from within instead of hiring thieves for hopeful managers. Give more hope for promotions for current staff. Stop hiring managers who don't know anything about the company or the policies. Promote more members on staff who deserve it.

    Sales Associate

Sales Associate (Current Employee) Harper Woods, MI

ProsDiscount on shoes, and seeing new people everyday. I love helping people out, so at the time I thought this would be the perfect job for me. Another thing I enjoyed, was that we didn't get paid off commission. So that way if you didn't sell anything you would still get paid.

ConsPoor hours, and low income. If the income was a little higher, I probably wouldn't mind the low hours.

Advice to Senior ManagementRaise the base pay from 7.50

Company doesn't care for the sales workers just the corporate workers

Sales Associate (Former Employee) Tampa, FL

ProsBeing around shoes and athletic apparel. The 30% discount is great as well but there is a limit per year on how much you can spend.

    Cons-Pay is horrible
    - paid commission and since it is always slow you get minimum wage
    - Unrealistic request
    - Lack of money leads to lack of benefits

Advice to Senior ManagementCare for your employees especially the ones who put in work for the customers, don't treat them like dogs

    Typical

Sales Associate (Former Employee) Tallahassee, FL

ProsMost of my managers were very nice and helped a lot. They taught me how to sell pretty well.

ConsI noticed the longer that I stayed there that the managers started to decrease in quality and they would place people in positions they weren't ready for. A lot of stealing was noticed as well.

Advice to Senior ManagementEmployees deserve better treatment and pay.

    The company that I loved

    MIT (Former Employee) Tulsa, OK

ProsGreat company, good pay, great people

ConsSlow promotions, lack of strong leadership (district manager),

Advice to Senior ManagementIt’s horrible to have a “leader” come in not knowing anything and just making decision of the top of their head. There is some every well qualified individuals that are ready to take her place. Won’t last long making decision the way they are making them.

The pay is horrible for the work you put in!!!!

Manager In Waiting (Current Employee) Cerritos, CA

ProsThe benefits are great. They provide dental/health/vision to all full time managers. Depending on what location you work at, that will depend on your commission and salary.

ConsThe benefits are great. I have been with the company for 7 years and moved my way up to a Manager in Waiting position. You really have to kiss ass to your DM to move up in the company. Unfortunately, I can't do that so I won't be getting a store anytime soon. The pay for a manager and assistant manager is decent. It pays my bill. The pay for a sales associate is crap. It is commission and base pay so your minimum wage is different in the state you work at. California minimum wage with commission is 6.50. Raises happen every 6 months IF your store manager EVEN fills out your evaluation. Otherwise you will NEVER get a raise. AND raises are literally 25 CENTS!!!!

    Chaos

Sales Associate (Former Employee) Columbia, SC

ProsFun environment to work in, normally lots of younger people. Great job to keep you moving and never a slow day. Great discount.

ConsTypical retail schedule issues. Upper management is a mess, from store manager up to regional/district manager. Expect to work a ton. Management also has a tendency to throw employees under the bus.

Advice to Senior ManagementKeep the environment fun.
