    Pros

Great staff, very accommodating to your schedule room for advancement

    Cons

Some would suggest favoritism when it comes to scheduling, but bottom line is if your a great employee you'll get guaranteed hours. If your costumer service sucks not as many hours

    I worked at Finish Line

    Pros

Loved the management team, atleast at the Southpoint Mall location. The former store manager Shane was very hardworking and sales driven And made sure that all of his assistant store managers were exactly the same. I was there for 3 years and loved every minute of it. If your social, love to smile, and love athletic wear than Finishline at Southpoint Mall in Durham, NC is the place for you.

    Cons

Pay was horrible...Seriously, not a place to work if you want to make a living or have a family to support, but if your in high school or college than you'll be ok.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please keep finding dedicated store managers from within the company and not hire managers outside of the company. This not only makes your stores better because your managers know what their doing, but at that point it becomes THEIR home and THEIR store and they will make sure that it flourishes. Also, this will motivate the other employees to work harder because they can see the growth potential. The most important thing I have to mention is when you do promote an employee to Assistant Manager, don't make them transfer. Allow them to keep their customers and help manage employees that they know and will listen to someone that they actually know and respect.

I have been working at Finish Line part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

One of the reasons that Finish Line is a great place to work because you are able to gain customer service skills as well as marketing skills, another reason that Finish Line is great because it is a great first job, especially for students who are still in school.

    Cons

The only cons are the salary, while working for Finish Line I felt the wages could have been higher or the amount of commission on a sales could have been higher.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

My manager was great! The only thing that I would say that needed some work was, the communication between the Managers in Macy's and Finish Line. I worked inside of the Finish Line in the Macy's and I sometimes felt that there was a conflict of directions between the Finish Line way and the Macy's way,

I worked at Finish Line full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Management is required to help you sell more, which makes your job more fun. Given many athletes work along with you, sales numbers can get competitive and keep things interesting. Also, the employee discount is nice. For those who do their job correctly and put in a year or two, there are many opportunities to move up to management.

    Cons

Unfortunately, the store managers are sometimes the least excited to be there. Assistant managers and managers in training are usually the most helpful and motivated, but both store managers I worked for seemed like they were burned out. Compensation starts low, but there are possibilities of raises after putting in a few good months.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There is room for more tangible sales incentives. Many employees decide not to push a potential customer because they don't want to do the work. Also, management tracks "smalls" very closely, like socks and shoelaces. Unfortunately, there was no useful training on how to do this. Overall, the more the employees know about sales, the more fun they have and the more money the store will make. The floor staff needs to be better educated and incentivized.

    Pros

Great customers and the discount is pretty good too.

    Cons

Lousy lazy management that lacks work ethic.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay more attention to DM and store management. I've been with the company for many years and I've seen management transition immensely and not for the best either.

I worked at Finish Line part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

30% employee discount... need I say more? I basically had this job for the discount alone. Very casual and laid back except for Christmas and tax free weekend, other than that the job was a piece of cake.

    Cons

Really pushed us to sell subpar accessories. Its difficult to sell a cheap product that is basically useless. Wish they would reconsider the overall value of their name brand accesories.
