    Pros

The incentive structure for bank manager is well worth it.

    Cons

This company dosent hold employees accountable expect the bank manager. We are short staffed all the time not just in the branch or region even in some states. They dont vaule home work balance due to staffing. Also when a satff memeber is on vacation it puts a big hurdle in your buisness that means no days off no lunch.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

1 more employee in most of this centers will not hurt the bottom line. And if we are to hold people accountable like tellers and bankers production will increase to offset the pay for the extra body. I know most of the branches are slow and dont know the body but the extra body is for engagment and retention. The extra body can just be by breaking full time into to part times.

I worked at FirstMerit part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The personalities of the diverse staff is one of the greatest unadvertised pros to working for the company.
My original managers were very hands on and interested in helping me with my development in the banking industry.

    Cons

Interest from corporate office in the development of its young, branch staff employees was very minimal
Bank did a very poor job at recruiting high quality, strong character employees. Often surrounded by team members who were only interested in collecting a paycheck and who struggled to separate work and personal lives

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Leave the corporate headquarters on a regular basis so you can experience and full realize the true pulse and atmosphere of your company.
