    Pros

Great co-workers, they are trying to turn it around and increase morale.

    Cons

    Pros

Branches work well together, training is thorough.

    Cons

Upper management micromanages to the extreme. Branches are badgered and belittled about goals and are expected to contact customers constantly to the point of upsetting customers. Branch employees are made to feel as though they can't ever do anything right.

    Advice to Management

If you are unaware of how to answer a question or situation please don't "blow smoke". Stick to your word. Have some compassion for the people in the branches that are doing the work on the front lines which allows you to earn incentive. You are only as good as your team.

    Pros

As I said great customer service good work life balance decent benefits except maybe the 401k. Good PTO flexibility and alot of good people working in retail banking.

    Cons

The salary pay for bankers is down right criminal. Lots and lots of turnover and I assume its due to the low pay wages in retail banking. Recruiting system is horrible.

    Advice to Management

If Flagstar could atleast become competitive in its pay rate for banking employees. They rank at the bottom compared to others. Senior management wanted to know why they can't retain people. My advice to senior management is stop avoiding the questions you already know the answers to.

The work life balance is nice but the overall atmosphere is one of protecting the bottom line and saving face.

    Pros

The ability to leave work and work and enjoy a family has been nice. Work-life balance is not something you are required to sacrifice.

    Cons

With the continued changing senior leadership in the company it has been difficult for mid-level managers to establish a consistent management method and to engage employees.

    Advice to Management

The need for internal growth potential and employee investment is overwhelming and costing the bank in skilled hardworking employees that must leave to achieve a more promising career.

    Pros

I have definitely lucked out working here. My team is a good one. The managers I have had, have been great mentors and are always finding ways to help you grow and succeed. There is opportunity to grow. Sometimes close by an somtimes moving might be required. Upper Management can be alright but sometimes can be a bit unreasonable in their exexpectations. All in all, it is good place to work.

    Cons

Lending is horrible. Process is drug out.
Pay could be much better for the responsibility that some personal bankers carry.
Goals for assistant managers should be changed to branch goals.

    Advice to Management

If a banker has more than one responsibility, e.g. personal banker plus certified lender be sure they are making a base pay especially if they are performing well.
Please change assistant manager goals to a branch focused goal.
