    Technician

    Technician (Current Employee) Austin, TX

ProsBenefits are nice and depending on position work life balance is good. If you like OT there is usually lots of opportunities.

ConsLast second changes in work hours. Usually requiring to work the weekend and being notified on a Friday at end of shift.

    – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

I worked in the training organization within RTS, supporting retail technical services - primarily wireless carriers.

    Training Manager (Former Employee)

ProsThe vast majority of the employees at all roles and levels were dedicated to providing excellent service to clients and customers. RTS tried very hard to build a consistent leadership, customer service and technical training platform and had an excellent team of individuals performing the training function. Customer service can be a demanding and stressful role and our teams did the job well.

ConsUnfortunately most of the RTS group was let go in 2011, when our contract with Verizon Wireless ended after over two decades with Verizon (and Bell Atlantic Mobile before them), before then, It was difficult to maintain a "Flextronics" culture since our employees were housed in client stores (either Verizon, or AT&T, depending on the employee).

Large company, challenging business environment, typical office politics

IT Manager (Current Employee) San Jose, CA

    ProsExtremely complex business model.
    Global culture
Relatively open access to senior leadership
    Rapidly changing environment

ConsA lot of "old timers" who grow or maintain status based upon relationships and politics, not necessary reflected on the work they do or don't do
Company is afraid to take major risks
    Large degree of silos
Lack of direction from department leadership
    Very short on strategic vision

Advice to Senior ManagementTake more risks
Don't forget to grow employees in non-low cost regions
    Cut the fat
    Tie bonuses to individual performance

Great Benefits, Poor HR in my division of the company

Customer Service Technician (Former Employee) Waterford, CT

ProsCompetitive Pay, great benefits, great company as a whole!

ConsIn the Retail Technical Support division the HR dept could have been more receptive to employee requests.

    Flex Cares??

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsThe company does have good benefits

ConsAfter an exceptionally good experience working for a small company, being acquired by this large international company was not a good experience. It had to happen, conforming to their rules, methods of operations etc, and eventual total dismantling of what our company was, people laid off and operations moved to Mexico and other locations.

Advice to Senior ManagementConsider not using the term "Flex Cares"

    Great Leader in NC

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsHad a leader by the name of David W., this guy was the best. Looked out after everyone did a hell of a job. He left and it never was the same. Have continud on, but very dysfunctional company. They are more lie an investment bank than a mfg co.

ConsToo much BS from San Jose.

Advice to Senior ManagementLead with all your senses, not just from a balance sheet. Cheaper is not always better. Too many VP's and not enough leaders or workers.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend
