    Pros

You are appreciated and valued. Security. They rarely fire people here.

    Cons

Don't go to Billing where they monitor your every move. Registration is the peon of grunt work. They don't pay nearly enough.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The 1%-3% raises on a $11-$17 per hour rate isn't even ok. We work our tails off for FH, we need more. Seriously, a lot more. You can hardly survuive on that rate. I enjoy working for a great company, I wish that my hard work would reflect in my income. Also, insurance is way too expensive. My husband gets better insurance at a corporation.

I have been working at Florida Hospital Orlando full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Initially, seems like great outfit. But, they don't walk their talk. They have big leadership meetings where it is all send. There is no interaction and no problem to solution reviews. Pretty junior management except top tier executives--good and bad; you can do well, but you also have tons of coaching and support required. Lars, the head of the company, is terrific.

    Cons

Says they're into Healthy 100, but not introducing offerings. Too many decisions makers. No processes for new product development and implementation. You make your 'budget' and nothing else really matters. They don't do due dates. Things take forever to get implemented if they ever do. Their safety record is not good enough. Pay is low at management levels.Very much a fix/cure it mentality.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Create an 'in-charge' best practice, so things can get done when someone is away. Right now everything stops. No one is appointed to lead in the absence of the a group's leader. Create program plans with project due dates and follow-up on the due dates. Get humble. Your financials may be great, but your safety record and customer sat record is not. Dates slip and slip and no one seems to care.

I have been working at Florida Hospital Orlando full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

I love my coworkers and feel that it is a great work environment. I have had two different positions within the company and have worked with great people in both positions.

    Cons

I could make a higher salary elsewhere and was denied a raise because I had "capped out".

I have been working at Florida Hospital Orlando as an intern

    Pros

The people at the downtown location are really nice, and the interviewing process seemed decent.

    Cons

They have so many unpaid interns that you rarely get a decent project.

    Cons

I have been working at Florida Hospital Orlando part-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

You can make your own schedule, they will pay for your continued education and their Neuro unit is brand new and very modern.

    Cons

There seemed to be some communication issues between the day and night shifts and some of the travel RN's had poor attitudes but this was rare.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hold more in-house training for the 7:00pm-7:00 shifts, all of the extra training seemed to be offered during the day which if fine unless you are working in the middle of 3 in a row and cant wake up to attend.

  11.

Okay at best; good first nursing position.

I have been working at Florida Hospital Orlando full-time

    Pros

Parking is not a problem on night shift. Good night shift differential.

    Cons

I work in the Children's Hospital, and there is not much input from staff before decisions are made. MD/RN relationship is not that great, a lot of them are rude, and don't take the time to explain what and why they do things so that everyone continues to learn. Not a teaching hospital. Food is terrible and overpriced.
