    Pros

Money can be good. Working without a supervisor watching over me(When they are not out to get you.) Flexible work hours.

    Cons

No benefits. 24/7 on call. Poor communication from sales management. Complicated pay checks(Too many unexplained charges/changes.) Sales management started to really try and dictate our schedules in 2011.

    Advice to Management

Communicate directly to distributors and not through sales managers. Stop micromanaging distributors.

    Pros

Flexibility, Top quality product. Parent Company Flowers Foods is really strong in the bread market

    Cons

poor upper management, no communication, very confusing environment, over priced product compared to other brands. Company restructured with flowers foods, but kept the same people that bankrupt the company in the first place!!!

    Advice to Management

Get rid of the dead weight at the top, think about better price for the consumer,

I have been working at Flowers Foods as a contractor (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Good Hours, Fun people to work with outside of flowers. Good Pay when you get it

    Cons

Company tells you in one sentence to push product then in the next wants to watch stales. have created competition for themselves and now have no clue how to control stale. Route Owners pay for allowances and have no control on them so they continue to go up and up. Good job to get into the business but not a long tern career

    Advice to Management

Listen to distributors. Get people in management that have RUN routes successfully.

    Pros

There are no pros to this job.

    Cons

You work seven days a week. No vacation unless you want to pay to take a vacation. Therefore, no vacation.

    Advice to Management

Do something productive instead of sitting in your office.

  9. Things are getting out of hand

    Current Intern - "independent" Distributor
    Current Intern - "independent" Distributor

I have been working at Flowers Foods as an intern (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Interacting with fellow distributors and customers is always the highlight of my day.

    Cons

Being micromanaged, uneducated/untrustworthy management, not being really independent, on call 24/7, working unprofitable stops, eating price allowances (there are customers on my route that get the product cheaper than I do) , work/life balance, shady business practices, etc.

    Advice to Management

If you would invest in some decent technology you could probably save money by getting rid of these middlemen and also save a lot of paper, which you guys are STILL sending in mailbags. It's 2015, not 1919. In the future, I hope to be able to have acsess to any report that I want concerning MY route, including it's value. However, I know why that will never happen.

I worked at Flowers Foods as a contractor

    Pros

You can make your schedule (kind of) It can be fun, and rewarding Not all managers are bad people (mine had my back)

    Cons

I haven't received my equity check/last weeks worth of pay in over a month (sent to wrong address, and idk wtf they are waiting for) Management is all over the place. Poor communication between Dist. and Management Sometimes they micromanage your "business" Sometimes you don't get paid, and shrink cant be explained all of the time.

    Advice to Management

Love your distributors, don't chain them up like dogs. Also get better distributor relations people.
