I worked at Flowserve as an intern

    Pros

Very integrated work, even at a low level, you're right in the action. Opportunities to deal with international companies, and get to know all suppliers well. Hard working and people always willing to take a second to answer questions.

    Cons

Moving upward in the company could be difficult. Make sure you get an offer in writing or they may renege on their verbal offer of extension.

I have been working at Flowserve full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Good working environment, Good benefits, Not much work or work pressure in IT.
Management is okay. Good team members. Flexible timings. Good bonus, pension plan, Health Insurance, excellent 401k match. I enjoyed working here.

    Cons

No proper Processes or Direction in IT. Mostly legacy code and legacy systems and more of maintenance work. If your are technically inclined, this may not be the company for you. Not much scope for career growth in IT.

  8. Not your typical corporate setting. People are laid back but here to provide results for our customers.

I have been working at Flowserve full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Good benefits include full health coverage, healthy and safe work environment, and very manageable working hours (7:30-4:00 most days).

    Cons

The position I'm currently in has a high turnover rate. Either you are promoted with 2-3 years or you move on to another company. Often times, our customers will hire engineers and pay higher salaries, Flowserve will not match. It seems as if the position is replaceable, which is understandable from a business stand point, but doesn't sit well with employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Always keep the bigger picture in perspective. 99% of Application Engineers DO NOT see themselves in this position more than 2-3 years down the road. Work with engineers to understand how they want to grow and where they can move up in the company.

I have been working at Flowserve full-time

    Pros

Stable company with good pay and high probability for annual bonus in 10-15% range. Lots of opportunity for an optimistic problem solvers to flourish if able to surmount organizational challenges.

    Cons

Fueled by tribal knowledge of experienced work force, new ideas and fresh perspectives are often met with strong opposition. This could be a difficult barrier for some to overcome.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Remain open to the ideas of individuals looking to make a difference. Work to remove barriers so these potential high performers can make a difference.

    Pros

Flowserve recognizes the importance of a welcoming atmosphere. They make an attempt to recognize the family aspect by doing a company picnic. Behaviors are rewarded and recognized. Praises are always given for a job well done.

    Cons

I have no issues except that the office space is a bit dark and there are no windows near me at all. It kind of depresses the mood a little bit.
