    Cons

Good old boys club. If you're a minority, and a woman in this company. Good luck to you. I was constantly harassed and my management didn't do anything about it and neither did HR.

    Advice to Management

Learn how to train and be a team player and HUMAN.

    Pros

Travel and money if you produce (or kiss butt of non producing old dogs).

    Cons

Too much dead wood from CEO to all offices living off 35 years at company despite the fact they can't open PowerPoint.

    Advice to Management

Fire CEO and 80% of the old dogs. You've lost too Uchenna young talent due to your arrogance and entitlement views the past 3 years.

    Pros

Large company, strong emphasis on procedures and practices, if you are in the right network, it can be very lucrative.

    Cons

Extremely old school, run by people who grew up in 1950's and still think computers are the root cause of many inefficiencies.
One example is that they still block you from accessing gmail from work. Which is in fact counter productive. Coz almost everyone now has smart phones so people use their mobile devices to surf, which actually takes longer, so if the management was smarter then would actually modify the IT policies.
Also, there is no importance on real tech advancement, they tried developing an inhouse social network, to keep people engaged, but the systems are so antiquated that everything runs at a glacial pace.
Fluor was one of the biggest companies lobbying to Microsoft to keep XP alive, even after Microsoft stopped support.

    Advice to Management

Need to make relevant changes, just getting an inhouse social network doesnt make Fluor cool, you need to change at a much deeper level.

    Pros

Good People work here, senior management doesn't listen to them.

    Cons

We've been doing it this way for years, we're not going to change now.

    Advice to Management

Use the diverse talent you have hired to give you insight to what needs to change.

    Pros

The only reason to work for Fluor is for the compensation

    Cons

The work environment is all very small cubicles the size of a small closet in a hallway. This is even the case for managers and consultants. There is no distinction. The other aspect is that they swing between massive 40% plus layoffs followed a few years later by gigantic hiring. It is common for they to make you stay at home without pay if there isn't a contract to charge to. If you are over the age of 50 you have no career path. All of the emphasis is on the younger workers. The younger people must realize that there is no career path after around 45.

    Advice to Management

Think about who the important knowledge workers are and give them a professional environment. Not a desk in the hallway.

    Pros

Well structured and good corporate culture.

    Cons

Does not know to value their technical contributors.

    Advice to Management

Need to work on improving their performance evaluation process and accordingly compensate the technical professionals.

    Pros

    - It's a job
    - I get paid

    Cons

    - Constant changing requirements for invoicing and progress
    - Elitist attitude from upper management
    - Few if any pats on the back for doing anything right
    - Struggling for pay raises
    - Staff meetings are ineffective and a waste of time
    - Training is incomplete and unorganized.

    Advice to Management

Get back into the field and get a real world look at what's going on. Take into consideration what the changes you make are impacting your support staff. A pat on the back goes a long way.

    Pros

Great initial pay out of college
    Relaxed atmosphere
    Flexible hours
Easy work compared to other jobs
    Your co-workers are nice

    Cons

    Raises are small... if any
    BOREDOM IS RAMPANT
Boom and bust hiring and layoffs
    Office politics
Promotions and raises do not seem merit-based

    Advice to Management

Next time you do layoffs, please just do it all in one go. The current model of round after round is hell for those that have to survive it.

    Cons

    Lack of diversity
Risk averse organization where the industry demand risk taking capabilities
    Compensation is below market

    Advice to Management

"The EPC industry is an easy business, therefore we can recuit the people we like (no diversity). " In reality, easy business do not make a lot of money. I strongly suggest complicating the business (solving more complex problems) by engaging talented diversity.
