I have been working at Fluor

    Pros

    - Compensation & benefits are good and comparable to the industry
    - Training and professional development is encouraged and supported whenever possible
    - Motivated coworkers
    - Every other Friday off for most office employees
    - Opportunities to operate within a global arena
    - Integrity is a priority for employees at all levels
    - Good vacation time

    Cons

    - Due to the size of the company, it can be difficult to influence change - especially when driven from the ground up
    - Despite regular increases in salary and diverse opportunities with increasing levels of responsibility, increase in job title is not as frequent in some cases

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    - Especially during times of large scale organizational change, the highest level of leadership can appear disconnected from the 'front line' workforce. The opportunity to provide feedback and offer input that may be incorporated into strategic decisions would go a long way in helping all employees feel more in control of their own professional futures.

I have been working at Fluor full-time

    Pros

Fluor provides exceptional training, cross-functional experience, diverse client portfolio, top class technical teams. Many Fluor employees have celebrated over 30 years of service to the company.

    Cons

Fluor is a large organization, one of the largest EPCM companies in the world. With this, it is not as agile as some smaller competitors, and innovation and change can be harder to achieve.

I have been working at Fluor full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

They treat employees with respect and generally do not micro-manage you. If you are assigned to a project the pay scale is great.

    Cons

If you are a local hire you don't get some wonderful perks like employees on job assignment do. Medical Benifits are very expensive.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Middle management needs to be more Pro Active instead of Re Active. Upper Management demands results and does not question how production results are obtained untill an incident occurs.

I have been working at Fluor full-time

    Pros

Successful company with true commitment to both ethics and safety.

    Cons

Fluor is a project-based company. Jobs last only until the project ends - often after only a few months or a couple of years. If there is not another job available on a different project, employees are put on LOA without pay. This results in employees leaving the company for other firms or taking jobs in hardship areas to stay employed.
