    Pros

Great technical expertise and genuinely nice people.

    Cons

Very large and bureaucratic in a very volatile market. Though it takes years to build a career here, the industry makes layoffs a regular occurrence.

    Pros

International company with many different cultures, great people. The company over all seems to care about their employees, the head of HR is an amazing kind heart person. That being said Fluor is a large company and I can only speak for what I've seen being at the corporate office.

    Cons

Politics run the show... to the point that job your boss wants you to have, could be over run by someone else's suggestion because the suggestion comes from someone more senior than your boss who suddenly knows the department better than your current boss does... I have seen many professional friends lose positions they were promised due to "suggestions" from higher ups. Fluor is a good company to work for, it's just sad to see politics get the best of people sometimes.

    Pros

Great pay. Treated the employees with dignity and respect. HR was quick to resolve any issue. Management was very professional. Offered excellent online training resources.

    Cons

Was difficult to advance within the company unless you knew the right people. Working in Afghanistan and an active war zone has its own unique set of challenges and difficulties.

    Advice to Management

Offer more direct hire employment opportunities to contractors transitioning from global projects. Offer more transition assistance to contracts transitioning from a war zone back to their point of origin. To include a mental and stress assessment and possibly some sort of financial planning options or training.

    Pros

The do provide competitive pay. The people that I have worked with and have come across in the office have all been friendly and good people. They provide pretty decent benefits with wellness programs to lower your premiums. You get every other Friday off which is great.

    Cons

Upper management decision making is not the best. They don't always think about what will be best for the long term.

    Advice to Management

Stick with US employees for things as important as client billing and relations. Don't overload your employees.

    Pros

Knowledge on line, vast resources of knowledge, many opportunities to work in various places in the world, opportunities for diversity. All in all a great place to work.

    Cons

Mired in bureaucratic procedures that stifle productivity and creativity that mire project staffs in doldrums. Management sometimes is out of touch with challenges of the working staff.

    Advice to Management

Avoid placing new hires in positions that require extensive knowledge of Fluor Practices. Take a few weeks to train them offline, then inject them into a practicing organization. Train the employees for their specific client and project tasks - don't expect them to apply general (notwithstanding proven) procedures to each situation. Help clients help themselves.

Former Contractor - Contract & Procurement Specialist in Kennesaw, GA

I worked at Fluor as a contractor (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I worked on the government side of Fluor's businesses in Afghanistan, which from my understanding is not as well as working on the corporate side, but all in all it was a good company to work for. The salary for Contract Administrators was not as much as it was with previous contractors I worked for in the past but they more than make up for it in bonuses.

    Cons

Working on the government side of things in Afghanistan it was a lot of favoritism in the workplace, if your were a friend of a lover of the right person you would excel, where as if you worked hard and had experience you would at the least keep your job.
