    Pros

    Not a lot to say, in the position I was in. The facility they do contract work for the other company , is a mess.

    Cons

    Don't know , where to start. Very mismanaged, never saw the supervisor, maybe once out of the six months I was there.

    Before, I took the job, they must have gone through well over 2 dozen people, and the contract company I worked for ,warned me about them. And they were right.

    I believe the good comments on this company in my position, probably are unionize people. This job wasn't. Not saying all unions are good, but in this case with this facility they out weight the mismanagement here.

    Co-workers were pretty much never happy , a lot of narrow mind Hecks that worked there. A lot of the senior workers, wanted to quit , but couldn't because , they were too old. So, you can get the picture here. The company theY do work for , couldn't careless about the facility and mostly like are just stringing it along unlit they close it in 5ys. They also, couldn't care less for the safety around there either. (Fluor was too busy blaming their workers not themselves, which is BS)

    Need to clean house with your management here & get rid of the Senior operators that don't want to be there.

    Pros

    Global name brand upon which to grow the business. Many people in place that are poised to perform; all that is needed is some organized direction.

    Cons

    There is a desperate need for senior management having real experience. Many meetings, initiatives and plane flights with little substance of effective management.

    ASAP, acquire people to fill key positions whom have real experience, not just time in the industry spent watching others work. There is a desperate need for people who have the ability and willingness to 'get their hands dirty'.

    Pros

    Very large paycheck. If you love the military hierarchy, you will love this company!

    Cons

    Work/life balance? 12 hour days, seven days a week, 45 minutes to vet to work, 45 minutes to get back from work, no paid lunch = ~8 hours a day to shower, sleep, eat, anything else you need to do.

    What can I say, I really cannot think of anything good to say about this company at all. It was conveniently located close to my home so I was able to walk to work

    Absence of communication from senior management. Company has appointed US expats to senior management positions with no concept of UK employment legislation.

    Pros

    Great connection with US and other governements and large number of big and exciting jobs. Good structure has been put in place after many years of cost reimbursible jobs at the client's expense.

    Cons

    Fluor middle tier managers are acting more like a gang and if you are a new comer to this gang, usually you get the hardest job and although you do it to best possible way, they claim the credit and if you question them, you will not be given any answer, instead you get ...

    In my case, I shared all of my 20 years of experience in Project Controls and they used it and claimed the credit for it.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Rather than keeping your middle tier managers in their position for a long time and give them power to operate without ever questioning them, always audit the managers hiring and layoff practices and question the experience and knowledge of the people replaced. In my case, I was replaced by someone who had not ever built a power plant before.

    Pros

    Good remuneration package with reasonable benefits. You are allowed to work independently and you are allowed to be creative to some extend. Excellent international project opportunities providing you are part of the acceptable political regime

    Senior Management discrimination against potential highly experienced and qualified staff. Inconsistent project travelling policy implementation results in low morale

    R&R bonuses and duration.
    Nothing else.

    Cons

    Bad management who came on the position through "whom do you know rather than how qualified are you" method.
    Poor organization in general, lack of business support on the FOBs, poor training and development, poor safety culture and standards.
    No advancement opportunities... for OCNs especially.
    OCNs in general have less rights than expats: no cellphone, no computer, no gym, 3 times lower salary, general discrimination by management, etc.
    But most important... extremely low recruiting standards!
    Here's my experience: My recruiter on the interview asked me only two questions: "How was your trip?" and "Do you have any questions?". There were people who did not understood a simplest sentence in English and they were still hired! Only one guy who did not understood the question: "When were you born?" was rejected (1 out of 30). Also people who lied everything but their name in the resume were hired! How can former manual laborer with no English skills whatsoever and no work experience with computers can be hired as a Senior MCS?
    Recruiters hired low quality workforce for high demanding positions and that caused majority of the problems.
    The "open door" policy here means if you don't like it the doors are always open for you to leave!

    It has plenty of project work.

    Cons

    My experience was that the current global procurement organizaton was promoting individuals based on their ethnicity. I can say it because I am of Asian descent. My husband was caucasian so he was told by his supervisor he did not the certain ethinic that the company was currently looking for. Also it seemed it was easier for a women to get accepted in the Global Business Leadership Team than a man. Again this was my experience.
