    Pros

Latest Management team is working to improve overall performance and work environment. Weekly Pay, Compensation is fair. Insurance is offered, but is expensive. 401K match is offered.

    Cons

Difficult work environment, relationship with customer is adversarial, office conditions leave much to be desired, union workforce has a poor relationship with management, no training or workforce development offered, high turnover among management.

    Advice to Management

Improve customer relations, improve employee relations, hire adequate staff to perform work functions, retain workforce, develop and train workforce, streamline work flow processes.

    Pros

Compensation for the project I was on was extremely competitive. That's about the only advantage.

    Cons

Where to begin? We were on a project in an austere environment, so a degree of roughing it was expected. That said, comparing Fluor to other contractors doing similar work (some of whom I worked for, some of whom I didn't) the living conditions were appalling and frankly unsafe. We had insufficient heat (in both housing and office facilities) in the Winter, and insufficient cooling in the Summer. This meant sleeping or working in buildings where the temperature INSIDE would be 30 degrees in the Winter. Inadequate equipment was never replaced. The shower and toilet facilities were public health hazards with floors prone to collapse and terrible hygiene. Project employees were treated like red-headed step-children, no respect or support from most senior management in the home office. The project management / leadership was a joke. Mostly retired officers who lived and worked in very comfortable conditions and had no empathy for employees who were enduring far worse conditions. Serious safety hazards wold be reported (one notable incident where a generator was pumping exhaust loaded with CO2 into the HVAC intake for a large female tent) but rarely if ever addressed. Even the leave policy was ridiculous. Frequent vacation rotations are nice, but there was no in-country sick leave or days off and we worked 7 days a week. Some people were pressured to engage in unethical behaviors because their managers said "it doesn't matter" and "we could get away with it". I was surrounded by people who felt demoralized and forgotten by the company. Very very very few women in leadership roles, very few promotions for women (or hardworking ladies who were put up for promotion were blocked by men in senior leadership positions). Leaving that job is one of the best things I've ever done. Would NEVER work for them again. Ever.

    Advice to Management

Adopt a No Jerk policy and enforce it heavily. Do more than pay lip service to brand values. A poster does not create a culture. And don't allow your project employees to be treated as anything less than a fully vested and valued member of the company.

    Pros

Freedom to perform the job up to a certain point.

    Cons

Lack of information and direction from management. Left to find out the job description on your own. Lack of support from management. Forced to constantly ask for contract requirements from management due to unclear guidelines.

    Advice to Management

Be more specific and more supportive with job descriptions and guidelines. Management seems to be strictly reactive not proactive.

Good old boys club. If you're a minority, and a woman in this company. Good luck to you. I was constantly harassed and my management didn't do anything about it and neither did HR.

    Pros

Located in California. The work environment is pleasant and clean. People are nice and friendly. I met the nicest people there.

    Cons

Traditionalist old company, absolute resistance to changes. Very difficult IT environment to work. I met some of the most obnoxious, rude, and ill-suited IT managers that I have ever worked with.

    Advice to Management

This company needs a new attitude make over.
