I worked at Fluor full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

This was a great first job out of college. They were able to provide good training and real life experience. The pay was very good for a first job.

    Cons

The work comes and goes and when things are good they are very good and when they are bad you get laid off. You figure they pay you extra to compensate for the fact that they may get rid of you after your project is over.

I have been working at Fluor full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Flex-Time, every other Friday off, great community relations program

    Cons

Job Security is based on the current demand for primarily Oil & Gas, if demand goes down you might not have a project to work on....to me, that is kind of scary

I have been working at Fluor full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Fluor has provided a wide range of opportunities for me though out my career. For a large Fortune 500 company, Fluor has provided a flexible work-life balance environment and encourages personal growth. Any cons are outweighed by the pros.

    Cons

Being a leader in our industry, Fluor takes on some of the biggest, most complexed projects in the world. If you are part of project execution, there are many challenging obstacles and the stress that is associated. However, I find myself never bored.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Recognize talent and do a better job retaining that talent.

I have been working at Fluor full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Great salary and benefits. Ability to work on projects around the globe.

    Cons

Need to be mobile to grow.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Work-life balance and a formal program for mobile employees outside of IT would help us to compete better when recruiting vs. our competition. Would also increase more women at Fluor.

Former Contractor - Human Resources Specialist

I worked at Fluor as a contractor (more than a year)

    Pros

Compensation , vacation time. Employees work together as a team. Takes pride in safety.

    Cons

Management was not trained and those that have been at the company for years have to train new management on what to do. Inventory of supplies was limited or not available at times.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Promote from within and not have employees with the potential to progress in the company train new hired upper management

Current Employee - Human Resources/IR Tech II in Greenville, SC

I have been working at Fluor full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Relaxed working environment, always chaning directions for the betterment of the organization. Great benifits, off every other Friday, accumulated TOWP at a very fair rate, flexible with shcedules to meet the needs of employees and home life.

    Cons

Lacking in communication effecting employees, too many click groups instead of team players. Growth depending on the department you work in. Stacking of team based on personal relationships instead of skill set and professionalism.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I would like to see management choose their leaders using a different criteria. Too many leaders say the right thing to their managers and do not follow through to the team. Would like to see upper management visit each department and get a true working knowledge of our daily activities.
