Former Employee – worked at Food Lion full-time for more than 10 years
Pros – Great benefits and pay. If you work hard and are extremely dedicated you can move up.
Cons – It's a corporate minded company versus one that gives store operations more say in decision making.
If they could tap that resource and have less chiefs they would be more successful.

Former Employee – worked at Food Lion full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – Lots of opportunities for promotion. Learn different skills because you are cross trained in several skills.
Cons – Pay is not good. Raises are once a year and max out at 2-2.5%. That's if you score superior. The only way to get a good pay increase is to be promoted.

Former Employee – worked at Food Lion part-time for more than a year
Pros – Worked in Deli/bakery, environment was all right. Kept it clean and focused on customer needs
Cons – Bad pay for a customer service + job, co-workers constantly competing in a non-competitive department in a very petty manner, seems that management doesn't really care for their employees and makes no effort to do so especially when complaints are made. Customer satisfaction and improvement is not rewarded or acknowledged. Unflexible hours and extremely low paying
Advice to Senior Management – Pay attention to your employees, motivate and encourage.

Cons – Very little advancement opportunity afforded during time with the company, and training did little to contribute toward future retail efforts. Constant changes in management made work environment feel unstable at times.
