Former Employee – worked at Ford Motor full-time for more than 10 years
Pros – Good pay. Some people I will miss working with. I can't really think of too many "good" things about working for Ford.
Cons – Horrible benefits and losing more every year. Zero work/life balance. Be there, or else!! The plant shutdown and that was horribly depressing. Lateral moves are mandatory and are made for you. If you don't like to move, too bad.
Advice to Senior Management – Keep an open mind.

Current Employee – been working at Ford Motor full-time
Pros – Great co-workers and relaxed work pace
Cons – It is really shocking how the spending freeze is affecting employees. You need to buy your own everyday use things....scissors, staplers, pins etc. Also the cafe at iTek is rather pathetic and if you are not buying nay food but just want to pick up a spoon/fork for your home cooked lunch, they charge you 10 cents per piece. I was horrified at this and the cashier and manager were so rude and discourteous! It is callous to demand this and shows how obsolete the entire system and the company really especially when we are the people doing most of the hard core IT work and bringing in millions for Ford.
Advice to Senior Management – Please modernize the work place and change the cafe contractor with more friendly and smiling people who do not make lunch hour miserable after a morning of hard work!

Former Employee – worked at Ford Motor full-time for more than a year
Pros – Very professional place to work to with very nice and professional co-workers.
Cons – Don't trust consultants took over a month just to get a computer and I was a software engineer. Once I got the computer everything was locked down and I really had to pull some teeth to get the software that I needed to do development with installed.
Advice to Senior Management – Loosen up the control of your employees hardware let them get the work done that they need too.

Current Employee – been working at Ford Motor full-time for more than 8 years
Pros – Probably the best work/life balance of any big company.
Cons – No room for advancement. Too many old people in management positions who need to retire.
Advice to Senior Management – You are hemorrhaging talent at the GSR8 level! We are leaving in droves because you refuse to promote. This is supposedly because there are too many middle managers (LL6 and LL5). When a GSR8 interviews for a promotion to the LL6 level (the first level of middle management), they're told they didn't get the job because HR insisted on moving an existing, "capable" LL6 into the position. This has happened to me twice this year (2012) and once last year!
Throughout the 10 years I've been at Ford, I've been a good boy and have done everything I was told to get promoted. I got my MBA 5 years ago, did special projects and delivered high quality results, I worked long hours, logged in from home at night after putting the kids to bed, stopped going to the Ford gym during my lunch hour (gained back the 40 lbs. I lost...thanks), and finally, received a Top Achiever performance rating (Ford's highest performance rating). Still no promotion! And guess what? I'm not a unique situation. There are others that are just as talented, if not more, who are looking to leave Ford for a better opportunity.
It makes me really sad because I gave my all to this company and I'm being told to wait another 4-5 years for the older, retirement age employees to retire. I'm 38. In 5 years I'll be 43. So I have to wait 15 years for my 1st promotion to LL6. Will I have to bust my ass even more and wait another 15 years when I'm 58 for my next promotion?
I think most people reading this review will agree, that an employee who busts their ass, produces results, and goes the extra mile shouldn't have to wait 15 years to get promoted. Others might say I'm whining or that I should just be thankful I have a job. Well guess what? I'm beyond being thankful. It's the lazy people that watch movies on NetFlix, YouTube, or gossip on their Facebook page all day who should be thankful they have a job; not the people like me who go above and beyond!

Current Employee – been working at Ford Motor as an intern for less than a year
Pros – Going to have good future
Cons – The company does not have cafeteria for everyone. I did not had cafeteria in my building. I went to other building but I was not allowed to access even after requesting one. No extra activities for interns to embed them within the company. Management should give equal importance to everyone's views before decision making. Teams should be more open to share information and respectful.
Advice to Senior Management – They should have at least one cafeteria access to everyone within the company. The company should encourage and appreciate an employee if he takes initiatives and extra effort to contribute to the company. The company should have activities for interns to get them involved in the company.

Former Employee – worked at Ford Motor full-time for more than 10 years
Pros – Provides good wages and benefits
Cons – Not receptive to outsiders and is very political. To be promoted you must have someone watching out for you and they protect their top managers even when they are wrong. Union workers have more rights than salary workers.
Advice to Senior Management – Treat salary workers with respect and stop kissing the unions a--

Current Employee – been working at Ford Motor
Pros – Great pay! Chance to learn alot and take on as much work as you want. Lots of room for improvement so if your wanting to make a mark this could be your place.
Cons – Management is absolutely awful and thus so is communication. Nobody likes working here. Would have a great production system if people knew how to use and operate within it... cough*management*cough
Advice to Senior Management – Few famous quotes management doesn't seem to understand. "Any fool can make something bigger and more comlex, it takes a true genius and alot of courage to move in the other direction." and "It is always better to work smarter than it is to work harder." Management is killing this company with too little planning and too much poor execution.

Current Employee – been working at Ford Motor
Pros – Great cars
Big Name on your resume
Pay
Diverse
Super smart engineers
Lots of Holidays (if your not working)
Lots (almost too much) working coming
Cons – Launch can take up your weekends, Holidays, and even vacation time
lack of training for the new hires
Low moral
Company is too large to get things done quickly.
Lacking resources from the cut back.
Advice to Senior Management – No more than 60 hours per week during launch. Could cause major health issues, since safety is first. Have a better training program for new hires and make them feel comfortable.

Current Employee – been working at Ford Motor
Pros – Decent healthcare, good amount of time off, tuition assistance (with lots of strings attached), flexible benefits, discount on new cars (only makes sense if you're the type that buys new cars).
Cons – Seniority is king, and newcomers will need to get in line. If someone indicates you'll advance "quickly," they are thinking a 10 year timeline. Different groups are constantly fighting, placing blame, and more or less sabotaging each other. I was on many projects where people from different groups would refuse to share information that was necessary to making an informed decision. Many hidden agendas that need to be waded through.
