I worked at Forest Labs full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Family friendly-used to do a lot of stuff for families and a wonderful holiday party.

    Cons

Don't think you are safe. Company was sold less than 6 months after new boss came in.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Have a little sympathy for those of us losing our jobs. Transparency would be helpful.

I worked at Forest Labs full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Good location, decent benefits and pretty good work-life balance. Overall, very nice people.

    Cons

Upper management is greedy and focused on profits before all else. Instead of waiting to lay older employees off after the merger with Actavis in July, they did it in April to make sure they wouldn't get vested in their stock options.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You should be ashamed of yourselves and the "Merger Success" bonuses you collected, while stealing money from people you very well know will have a difficult time finding another position. Shame on you.

I worked at Forest Labs full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Company car, one great drug(Linzess), good area business directors

    Cons

Middle management micro manages sales reps. Reps are happy if they have a good manager and miserable if they don't. A lot of them are creepy just like many of the regional directors. In many regions Forest is a modern day, "Good old boys club." Large pod structure is a disaster. Doctors hate seeing several reps from the same company especially because they are not bringing the same value as they once did in the Lexapro days.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get rid of 1/3 of the DM's and the pod structure.

    Pros

The people doing the work were very nice day to day.

    Cons

Senior IT Management does not do any type of strategic long range plan. It's all about how much money it costs in the current year. No upward mobility unless you were buddies with the CIO or VP's.

A Middling Place to Work, and That’s It

I have been working at Forest Labs full-time

    Pros

    1) Casual workplace, both in terms of dress and attitude. At no point did I feel like anyone was judging or treating me unfairly

    Cons

    1) Communication from internal leadership is almost nonexistent. In my time with the company, there were no communications to the team from the VP or Executive levels within my practice

    2) Many of the internal managers are given their roles because of how long they’ve been with the company and not because they have the skills, or even the interest, to lead. The career paths are unclear and encourage simply sticking around to get promoted

    3) Much of the workforce is comprised of ‘old timers’ with significant inertia and resistance to change. If you’re looking to run out the clock on your career, the pace may suit you. I wouldn’t recommend it as a place for younger workers to grow and to develop themselves

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    1) There are many silos in the organization whereby people focus on the best solution for their group rather than working together to find the best solution for the company. There are no goals nor incentives to work with anyone but your own team

    2) Projects seem to get funded to address squeaky wheels rather than true business value. If you’re only focusing on the initiatives that people loudly bring to your attention, you’re focused on the wrong things
