A tremendous company and a spectacular ride in career & rewards

Vice President, Officer (Current Employee)
New York, NY

I have been working at Forest Labs

ProsForest Labs has great products, a stellar team, a bevy of new compounds coming to market in important categories where pay, benefits and career growth is possible for serious, dedicated team workers.

ConsThe company is undergoing great strains as it moves to a mature pharmaceutical company in a difficult market for sales at historical profitable levels. There will be a lot of turmoil in the next few years due to patent expiry in important products

Advice to Senior ManagementManagement needs to better communicate with employees and the public about strategy, position the business is taking, and change in the marketplace as it pertains to the business.

In the middle of a merger - being bought by Actavis

Senior Statistical Programmer (Current Employee)
Jersey City, NJ

I have been working at Forest Labs full-time for more than 10 years

ProsPeople are mostly friendly, educated, and intelligent. There is work for you if you are good. Upper management is insightful and know what they are doing.

ConsSince this is a time of company merger transition, job uncertainty is prevalent. If you want to move up the ladder you need to be assertive and make your aspirations know, else you will be left behind.

Advice to Senior ManagementThe working business model of buying promising compounds and bringing them to market work well for Forest.

Since Howard Solomon has stepped down from the CEO position and the new president Brent Saunders has a track record of having a company he runs being bought, that is exactly what happened, in record time, less than six months of his arrival.

Administrative Assistant II

Administrative Assistant (Current Employee)
New York, NY

I have been working at Forest Labs full-time for more than a year

ProsFriendly, laid back environment. There is much room for growth for an admin including positions other than administrative assistants.

ConsThe company is going through a major restructuring with a new CEO and lay-offs. Not sure what type of company it will become once

Nice place to work!

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
Saint Louis, MO

I have been working at Forest Labs

ProsNice work-family balance. Nice benefits, clean environment, nice people, decent location, minimal micromanagement from the executive level.

ConsSALARY!!!!! Clearly well-below average. Other than that, it would be career opportunity. They do not have a good career path for employees; therefore, we rarely retain good to excellent talent. It seems to be a "starting" place for many college graduates and then they move on. Executives seem "okay" with this concept.

Advice to Senior ManagementPlease pay people what they deserve with respect to other jobs in the same market. We have a talented group of people and it would be wise to retain best talent as opposed to train and rehire, constantly!
