I worked at Forever 21 for more than a year

    Pros

Good music.. Although it can be insanely repetitive and a 10% discount ...thank you so much for my 5 cent discount! REALLY makes a difference!

    Cons

Ha.. I wish I could give this company no stars..Where do I begin...they often say they will promote you and then never follow through, no matter how hard you work! Management is catty and the DM thinks she some sort of queen B. We are overworked, underpaid and highly under appreciated for the back breaking work we do. Oh and the best part of it all is when you do something "above and beyond" your consultation prize for all the work you do musters up to about a sample sized hand sanitizer from bath and body works oooohhh fancy or a breath mint lucky you! Management also likes to believe that as sale associates we have some sort of magical power to make people buy more. funny... I think its up to the customer on what they want to buy, don't get mad at me because I couldn't force someone to buy a stupid nail polish last minute to make your stupid ADS. This company is a joke and if I wasn't so desperate for income I'd already have quit.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat us with respect... We're HUMAN BEINGS the last time I checked!

I have been working at Forever 21 part-time for less than a year

    Pros

The other employees are great. And since you are NOT trained you can always ask them questions. They will be happy to answer.

    Cons

We had a new manager and she lied about EVERYONE. Just so the head manager would like her. So that was a struggle being written up for stuff you didn't even do.
The 10% sucks since taxes are 7% in North Carolina.
The customers will yell at you and the guys come in and harass you.
Usually whenever I close we have stayed will after midnight. Which means you walk through the parking lot alone at midnight!! Not too safe.
During closing the YOUNG managers will walk around and tell you what you did wrong. Then go to the front to gossip.
You only get a 10 minute break if you work 4 1/2 hours. Most of the time I DIDN'T get a break because I had to work my section alone. And when you do get a break the managers come in and tell you they are sick of people taking their breaks and to get back on the floor and work. ILLEGAL
Don't think you will get to work with people because of the "lack of money" they put you in a section alone and expect all your go-backs to be done, mesh bags being handed out, cleaning the floor and racks, and greeting customers. For what I get paid I will only do one of those.

I've been here 3 weeks and I am quitting tomorrow.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop hiring managers that are so young they don't know what they are doing!!
Actually train the employees! My first day they threw me in a section alone and yelled at me for not doing go-backs when I didn't even know what go-backs were!
Don't treat us horribly and maybe we will do a better job!!
Don't worry I've told many customers not to shop here because of the low quality of clothes.

Oh and we are NOT a Christian company! The managers curse about customers ALL the time. And have you seen the all lace body suit we sell?! That's NOT Christian. AT ALL.

DURING MY SECOND DAY A STRAP HAD BROKEN OFF A DRESS AND I TOLD A MANAGER AN HOUR LATER I WAS TOLD TO OUT IT BACK ON THE RACK- IT WAS "FIXED" WITH RED TAPE.

I worked at Forever 21 part-time for more than a year

    Pros

The people that work there are awesome. You're guaranteed to make friends. Although it can be a bit like high school sometimes. You also get first dibs on the newest items. It's exciting to get new products in. They hire anyone so it's a great first job. They are pretty good about working with your schedule. Great job for someone who doesn't want to work but wants to make money.

    Cons

Management will promise you promotions and raises but don't follow through with them. So you wind up doing the work for sales associate pay because you are a sales associate doing management or visual work. Long hours. Sometimes you don't get home till 2 or 3 in the morning. They made me stay for 17 hours on Black Friday. Customers treat you like dirt especially if you work in the fitting room. The company constantly changes it's policies. It's something different every week. Also, HR doesn't care. If you report anything but someone stealing, it gets thrown in the trash. They take advantage of people all the time. You won't believe the stuff that goes on in this company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't tell someone you're going to promote them and then don't. Don't pick favorites. Managers often don't know how to manage. They make the good employees do all the work and don't say anything to the people slacking off and talking.

I worked at Forever 21 part-time for less than a year

    Pros

You get to wear whatever you want, you have a whopping 10% discount, and can keep up with fashion trends.

    Cons

Long hours if you're closing, hundreds of put-backs, below average salary, overnight floor sets, and at my store they required us to punch out for a 10 MINUTE break as well as our half hour break. I have worked in numerous retail locations and always got 15 minutes, clocked in. Not to mention the management is mostly between the ages of 19 and 25 so expect cattiness.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The CEO needs to quit being so cheap! Pay your employees better, downsize your inventory (way too overwhelming), hire managers who actually know what they're doing and quit trying to tiptoe your way around labor laws...

    Pros

    10% discount
good job for high schoolers, because theres a lot of young people who shop there

    Cons

    Dirty clothes,
    crazy go backs,
    bad management
low hours, that would take you off the timesheet (basically not giving you hours that you end yo quitting).

The male manger would make me work in mens because i had big boobs and would make me sale and flirt with them.

I have been working at Forever 21 full-time

    Pros

Little to no supervision ( if that is what you are into) and if you make friends with your co-workers and supervisors there is no getting in trouble when you screw things up. If you liked high school, you'll love Forever 21! It's all about gossip, drama and fitting in to cliques. Oh, also if you like doing double the work for half the pay, this place is for you! Let's not forget about the child labor used in China to produce the vast majority of the clothing- if you think under privileged children in other countries deserve to enslaved to make "cute" and "affordable" clothing you've found the right employer!

    Cons

Company was down double digits in 2013 and cut hundreds of jobs, pay and benefits to make up for it. No real growth unless you make friends with your supervisors, only 10% discount, horrible benefits, NO SICK TIME and 75% of the year is in black out, so no taking vacation time either. The pay is horrible for the work load, all the competitors pay more! Manager's can not take off any weekends and the payroll is terrible so expect to do the work of 4 people and get paid less than 1 person should. Promotions and raises are all about brown nosing and NO TATTOOS or piercings allowed- even a nose piercing or gauged ears... Company is SUPER disorganized and the home office is ran by friends and family of the founders- expect to deal with people that either don't clearly speak or understand english but also have no qualifications to work in their assigned departments. This company laid of THOUSANDS of full time people in late 2013 to avoid paying out benefits, the people who could keep their jobs had to stay for less hours, less pay and NO benefits... This company is still considered a "private" company so information about it is hard to find, i have NOTHING to gain by saying these things BUT helping someone to not make the same mistake I did by working at Forever21.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay people what they are worth and treat them like human beings! Get organized and don't get personally involved with the people you supervise and treat other people poorly because of it, personal relationships are not for the workplace. Protect your employees- offer them good pay, benefits and a SAFE work environment. CHILD LABOR IS DISGUSTING, do it right, even if its on your dime! The CEO of this company is worth over 4.3 billion dollars- it's time the people that made him rich get a piece! Also, you should REALLY invest in original ideas and merchandising instead of ripping off H&M and Urban Outfitters every floor set!

I worked at Forever 21 part-time for more than a year

    Pros

-at least you could hide out in the dressing rooms when things got too hectic

    Cons

-I was part of the grand opening team for one of the largest Forever 21's in California.
-Employees were given arduous tasks with very high expectations and terrible pay.
-Due to the limited amount of time before the store opening employees would be scheduled to stay until odd hours and shifts would sometimes surpass 10-14 hours with no overtime compensation. Management would make sales associates clock-out by midnight and then clock-in a few minutes after to continue their shift.
-Very clicky environment not only amongst employees but managers as well. A lot of inter-dating between management and employees which resulted in favoritism and an unprofessional environment.
-Management was very elitest, unapproachable, and demeaning. One of the assistant managers I worked with would persistently harass employees and would specifically target employees about their physical appearance (e.g. weight, clothing, hair etc).
-a lot of gossiping and catty drama
-closing shift employees would be forced to stay past their shift until the clothing and other merchandise was sorted and organized
    -terrible management of loss-prevention
-a lot of public accusation and humiliation between management and other employees
-no room to grow in this company & get out while you still have your sanity

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

-Better pay & provide overtime compensation
-Reconstruct the entire culture of the company
    -Allow room for growth

I worked at Forever 21 full-time for more than a year

    Pros

I can't think of one pro. Discount on clothes but they are already really cheap. You may get the chance to help the visual merchandise team and that can be really fun.

    Cons

Overnight shifts, terrible hourly pay, 6 months before benefits start, little to no time to have a lunch break, DM is a heartless slave driver.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get better hangers, allow breaks, and working overnights with the expectation that staff work during the day too is insane.

I have been working at Forever 21 full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    Nothing really . . .

    Cons

I can't even start off with how bad this company is to work for. They use their employees as slaves and expect so much for little pay. Our store is the best store within the district, however our DM is trying to lower every managers pay, since we are "getting payed to much", for a manager that works in one of the highest selling stores in the state, 10.00 an hour isn't going to do it. I have to constantly carry large boxes, and if something happens to me, the company doesn't care. I really wish I could go over all the terrible things this company has done, but I will never be able to stop.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Next time the system goes down, don't ignore our constant plea for help. It's hard enough to ring people by only accepting cash and manually writing everything they buy, plus adding the sub total and tax, as to constantly being disrespected by customers and being ignore by corporate for 3 days!
