The team at the time was great, like a little family.

    Head Cashier (Former Employee)
    Oceanside, CA

ProsPros, working with new fashion, most of the time great customers, edgy vibe.

ConsRegional manager was pretty intense, to set the least, angry clients, not great pay.

Advice to Senior ManagementWork on getting the store employes to work together like a family again. Makes a big difference.

It was a typical retail job

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

Prosgreat co-workers, hours of operation are nice. Management is down to earth. Music is always playing and it's a great variety.

ConsHours can be low so you have to pick up hours from others if you want to have a steady check.
Lots of young people work there and they bring their high school drama into the workforce.

Advice to Senior ManagementClose at closing time. It's not fair to employees to keep the store open late to meet sales goals. Employees have lives and already expect to be there an hour and a half after closing.

    Seasonal Sales Associate- College Student

Cashier and Sales Associate (Depending On Where They Throw Me) (Current Employee)

ProsPromotions are always going on, management is decent depending on the location, fellow associates make you want to come to work. I mean its retail, can't expect too much.

ConsDiscount sucks, especially for the hours and hard work the employees put in.

Advice to Senior ManagementBetter discounts please

Great Company to work for if you passion lies in retail

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

    ProsPersonal Growth
    Relationship with DM
You learn every aspect of the retail business

ConsThey have the worst return policy and expect you to deal with it
    benefits
you don't bonus unless you make your quarter
Disciplining people with writes aren't always justifiable

Advice to Senior ManagementIts not always the employees in the building that are the problem sometimes it starts from someone higher up.

    Enjoyable experience

    Stock Associate (Former Employee)

ProsFirst job in retail, and the employees were helpful
Senior staff was fair and respectful
Allowed to do your job with not too much micromanaging

ConsNot many cons, though sometimes coworkers would slack on the job (not cleaning properly or not working at a decent pace) which left more work for those who tried

Advice to Senior ManagementContinue to give the stock team relative freedom as long as they are doing their job well

Fun job, keeps you busy and has clear expectations for each position.

    Assistant Store Manager (Former Employee)
    Omaha, NE

ProsDecent pay, no pressure to hit sales (always do), high energy store, always get the latest and greatest first. Great benefits.

ConsHorrible return policy. Lots of angry customers. Some stores are huge and there will be lots to organize and clean up at the end of the night.

Advice to Senior ManagementPositive reinforcement would be much appreciated. More frequent reviews. Better discount (only 10%).

    Learned alot

Cashier and Sales Associate (Depending On Where They Throw Me) (Former Employee)
    Gainesville, FL

ProsPretty easy-going work environment compared to other jobs. Opportunities to move up if you simply work hard and express interest. Learn a little about merchandising. Very fashion forward.

ConsNot the best pay (its retail). No benefits for part-timers. If the store isn't making their sales goals they won't give management enough hours to use to staff the store properly. When there aren't enough people working the go-backs will not get done and associates stay until late at night to put everything away. This isn't the case for all stores though.

Forever 21 is challenging and can be fun. The stress of the job and expectations will haunt you at home.

    Head Cashier (Current Employee)

ProsThe company sells a wide variety of fashion forward products. This attracts diverse customers. You'll gain a lot of useful knowledge that can be applied in future careers. When sales are up, it's easy to get more hours.

ConsWaiting for secret shop and inventory results. A lot of loss means no internal promotions or wage increases. Horrible coverage on the sales floor, weeks of not making sales means less hours to work, not knowing what drastic changes the company will make. Listening to customers harass us about our exchange policy.
