we have a good team but the new manager has distroyed moral she has cut the staff to bare minimum so always pushed for time and residents are getting neclected,

I worked at Four Seasons Health Care full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Wonderful residents makes it feel worthwhile sometimes.

    Cons

Everything! Direct and indirect bullying is tolerated and accepted, low wages, "quick, wash, dress" culture, no time to spend with residents, lazy staff, personality-based workplace where promotion comes through social status rather than hard work.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Listen to your Care Assistants!

I have been working at Four Seasons Health Care full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

taking care of the clients and getting to know them and their families. I like to see the smile i leave on their faces daily when I am with them. I feel the company doesnt really have any values. as i was told in a staff meeting, its a business. they dont actually care about the clients. Training is minimal and there is no room to grow.

    Cons

Poor management, no team work, no room for personal growth and no promotions available, work life balance is nil. i am in every weekend longest stretch was 28 weekends in a row and i only got some off because i booked annual leave and in every weekend again since. They dont care about their staff and that is the kind of attitude that makes straff leave and get fed up with their place of work. It's a business, there is no genuine care.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

the best advice i could give is to listen to and look after the staff you have because if you dont you will regret it. and stop picking on the ones that actually work and start disciplining the ones that phone in all the time and dont turn up when they are supposed to. I am sick to death of taking blame for other peoples wrong doing. be reasonable. care assistants CANT do everything!!!!!!

    Pros

some staff give you credit where its due

    Cons

terrible attitude from staff towards the good workers ,some senior carers think that they are management ,i am currently off sick since july 2014 due to stress not from the physical side of the job as a carer / domestic but from certain members of staff who are the lazy workers .and dont like being given a shown up . when managers are told of a complaint when you have one nothing gets done ,so the situation stays the same .bullying is rife also too many two faced workers too talking nice to you one minute then stabbing you in the back the next also other workers who have a different job e.g chefs and cooks getting involved in caring and domestic workers duties as that have nothing to do with them .some domestic workers take half hour or more break time than the allocated 15 minutes and over an hour for the half hour break this is mostly done at weekends when no managers are in the home or when the housekeeper has her days off , some times it is one and a half hours they take for lunch there is no follow up on what work is carried out to see if it is done to standard also cleaning schedules are filled in even if the cleaning has not been done ,saying that the work has been done no follow up in this area too

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

management has to get involved more ,have a look at the big picture .more discipline

I have been working at Four Seasons Health Care full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Working with the elderly is amazing, never the same day and these people are such a pleasure to work for. I have also really loved working with the other carers, it's like a nice big family.

    Cons

I don't feel that the company looks after it's workers as well as it should... Many a time I have thought that I am just a disposable carer that is being wasted and I don't like feeling that way. Also there seems to be more paperwork than actual 1 to 1 care with the residents, they don't care about writing in a folder, they want the company and to be looked after. Also for what we do the pay is horrendous compared to others.

I have been working at Four Seasons Health Care part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

    Meeting some really lovely residents.

    Cons

Trying to clean large homes on min staff levels to a high standard one member of staff per floor lots,of en-suite rooms and lots of toilets. families being employed getting away with going for lots of cigarette breaks and not doing their jobs just there for the wage and bot do their jobs. Trying to get annual leave is a challenge. Bullying, bad management.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Go out on to the floor and really see what is going on and stop lying to staff and families.

I worked at Four Seasons Health Care full-time

    Pros

Other care staff are friendly and do their best to help residents.

    Cons

Where to begin? Management are more concerned with selling rooms rather than the actual care of the residents already in the homes. As a carer I get paid minimum wage for a very physically and mentally demanding job. You can sometimes be doing the job of others due to staff shortages - never even a thanks for your hard work let alone a reward for doing the extra work. The management of the home and regional managers seem to have absolutely zero respect for the care staff, they just see us as expendable to be replaced if/when we leave. I've never been spoken to as badly by a boss as I have working for Four Seasons health care. Residents are neglected due to the low staffing levels - management rarely leave their office's to help in such instances. The company seems to skimp by paying out the bare minimum for necessary items such as continence pads and hoisting equipment. There are absolutely zero benefits, its a minimum wage job, no sick pay, no extra pay on bank holidays, no reward for putting in extra work, zero chance of a promotions beyond senior carer. I would never ever recommend anybody work for this company.
