I worked at Franklin Covey full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

I liked the people I worked with. Very supportive staff, and some are still good personal friends. I truly believed in the product I was selling.

    Cons

It seemed very much like the company wasn't practicing what we preached. It seemed very often that important principles like putting first things first, focusing on the important (not the urgent) wasn't focused on, among many other things. If only we could have had a FranklinCovey consultant come give consultation to FranklinCovey, we'd be golden :)

I have been working at Franklin Covey part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Store is closed on Sundays, Located in Shopping center not a mall, Management works with school schedule, Easy store upkeep, Easy programs, Internet access, free to use Social Media sites when store is slow, Meeting Goals is based on team as a whole, not individual worker, no disciplinary actions for not meeting goals, most stores do not meet them anyway.

    Cons

Pay, Bonuses are low, a lot of crazy customers (I'm talking hoarders, compulsive shoppers, compulsive returners), no health benefits for p/t employees, work holidays, work weekends.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

e-commerce is not the way to acquire new customers.

I worked at Franklin Covey full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

good work-life balance, fun company activities, salary

    Cons

Employees don't practice what the company teaches, managers can do pretty much whatever they want, managers get their way by bullying other managers and employees, lots of bickering, fighting, and bullying, no way for employees to evaluate managers, managers are not held responsible for anything, small company with very little room for advancement, sales rule everything.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get rid of all of the Coveys, especially the ones who are getting paid for not doing anything. Hold managers responsible for their poor and unethical behavior even if those managers are bringing in big bucks for the company, quit letting the inmates run the asylum.

    Pros

    Some outstanding people. Great products.

    Cons

Like any company, there are dysfunctions between departments and teams. Sometimes the focus is too internal and not enough on the customer.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Put the customer's needs before internal issues.

    Pros

You get access to great training material, there is a strong, friendly environment, and you will have the ability to develop yourself professionally.

    Cons

Occasionally it can feel disorganized. FC doesn't always pay attention to its employees, and there seems to be little communication between departments.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make sure your employees have responsibilities, and let them know you will follow-up on those responsibilities to help them feel motivated.

    Pros

Access to state of the art research in training and development. Great group of people, good culture. Admirable CEO.

    Cons

They create great expectations about what a company should look like for clients, it's sad sometimes to realize that they don use their own medicine.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

More and better scrutiny on the licensees leadership practices, talk to the little b, see how they feel. You'll be surprised.
