Friendly environment to work in and fun people to work with.

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)
Chicago, IL

I worked at Franklin Covey

Pros- Access to world class training content and programs.
- Honesty, hard work, and integrity are promoted and rewarded.
- Competitive and fair compensation packages.
- Noble mission (to enable greatness in people and organizations everywhere)
- Global reach and relevance / fairly well known brand
- Fun incentive programs and yearly company meetings

Cons- Not very much room for career advancement as far as upward movement (it takes a long time)
- Employees are not the best example of practicing what we teach in our training programs

Advice to Senior ManagementI would recommend doing more advertising in various mediums in order to increase brand awareness and improve reputation as training/consulting provider. Do what is needed to change image from "The Planner People" to the "Our Training Programs Are Super Effective"

Pressure to perform too high

Retail Store Associate (Current Employee)
Santa Clara, CA

I have been working at Franklin Covey

ProsIts a very professional environment for a retail job. Lots of chances to meet highly successful people and network. Very personalized and one on one sales so it doesn't feel like a robotic cashiers job. Most of the customers who come in are intelligent and respectful taking your advice seriously which makes it feel like a

ConsYou are judged primarily by your average sale which is dictated by corporate to be in the 50-60$ range. There is so much pressure and constant nagging to maintain those numbers which leads the sales people to get stressed out and try to push useless stuff on customers just to add a dollar to the average sale. Management does not take into account that sometimes circumstances (time of day, economy, etc.) make those goals impossible.

Advice to Senior ManagementCorporate: Listen to the people who are working in your retail stores. They understand the products, know what sells and what doesn't. We have conversations with people all day long about what they're looking for in organizational products, and could offer so much advice on how to improve the marketing efforts and the products themselves.

Thank goodness for quality people

Project Coordinator (Former Employee)
Salt Lake City, UT

I worked at Franklin Covey

ProsFranklinCovey has some of them most incredible, talented, hard-working people you will ever be around. You will be inspired by the integrity that the front line workers bring to the table. FranklinCovey is very good at balancing work and life and very good at understanding family comes first.

ConsCompensation wise don't expect to get anything more than a 3% raise yearly and maybe a $300 bonus if the company feels like it. The upper management levels receive "variable pay" based on performance on top of their base pay and they hold that sacred - to the point of decreasing workforce to protect it. The absolute most frustrating thing you will experience is going to the seminars that FC sells (i.e. 7 Habits, Leadership, Execution) then realizing that the company follows none of what it teaches.

Advice to Senior ManagementPlain and simple - PRACTICE what you PREACH. Your fundamentals work, there are plenty of case studies to prove it. So, why not practice them from the top of the organization to the bottom?
