    Overall good company to work for

    ProsGood benefits, room to move up and gain additional skills, training provided, good people to work with

    Conssometimes can be hard to get training, if they want you gone they can find a reason (even a small one), more work and less associates

    Advice to Senior ManagementI understand meeting financial goals but give stores more hours to provide better customer service which will bring your customers back ... also pay better, you pay ok but look at companies like Costco who pays really well and those associates don't want to leave and customers love their company.

    Advice to Senior ManagementMake sure schedules allow for coverage of breaks and lunches, and there is a plan in give timely breaks. It improves employees' health and moral.

    Customer Service is not number one

    Proslove the otherEmployees, and most of the customers, family comes first with Fred Meyer, Pay and benfits are great, pay raises are very decent and you can get a raise fast. part time employees get insurance, A family of 5 can get Medical. Dental, vision, Life and 401k for less then 200.00 a month

    ConsCashiers are suppose to be speedy, wich leads to tendonitis, which the company seems not Too care, they just want the customers in and out A.S.A.P. too much stress on manangement and employees, to reach the ring up goal.

    Advice to Senior ManagementMore brownie points for employeesTreat the employees with more respect, Make customer service number one again, Not worry about being the fastest check out in town. Think of the injuries that can occur from repetition and too speedy , and less time worring about bounses, we strive on injury free, so dont make the cashiers go so fast.

    Great associates, create great experiences for customers.

    ProsI've been all over the state at Fred Meyer in my 14+ years. I've worked for this company since I was a part-time employee at the tender age of 17. The people here have always been very friendly and caring and we truly create a family within our stores. Our management and regional team continues to strive to create a better business culture through communication; coaching, teaching and training our team; and classes to help strengthen our knowledge of how the world of retail is changing.

    ConsRetail is not a job for the faint of heart. In my time at Fred Meyer I've been cussed out, spit on and generally been treated like I was stupid and incompetent by several customers because of my young age and being in some of the positions I've been in. But I will tell you when you have someone that truly needs your help and you go out of your way to help them (which is Fred Meyer way) the smiles that you get and the heart felt thanks make it all worth it.

    Advice to Senior ManagementThere is definitely some political problems with any hiring with in upper, middle and lower management. And whether it's a good thing or not we no longer promote people if they are personable workers with a vast array of knowledge. We feel that personality is more important and knowledge will come with time.

    ProsThe company is in a nice community in a good location. The benefits seem pretty good, although I did not qualify for them.

    ConsI was only hired on a temporary basis, so the work was very unsteady. Possibly because of that reason other employees weren't very personable toward me.
