I worked at Fred Meyer full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Fred Meyer fosters a great in-store culture, promotions are there for people who want to have a career there and compensation is above average. What made it a pleasant work experience is the training that was provided, teamwork among the departments, low turnover and policies that were not only realistic but doable in your daily routine. Also, the Associate Discounts really helped with personal finances:)

    Cons

Being retail you'll have be flexible with your work schedule.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue building the team from with-in, always revisit policies just to make sure everything is correct.

I have been working at Fred Meyer full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

I like working here because I enjoy my job. There are many career opportunities. They are a successful company that constantly evolves with the times. We have great benefits including holiday pay, vacation pay, sick leave, special discounts, medical, dental, vision, and stock options.

    Cons

Like every business sometimes the wrong people are put in the wrong place and they do not follow the guidelines and the core vision of the company. Treating people right.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Implementing a program where as many fulltime employees will be utilized as possible. Giving people set schedules with two days off in a row for accepting a full time position and more responsibility. It is a win win you get employees who are happy they take care of the business because the company takes care of them.

I have been working at Fred Meyer

    Pros

As my first experience in the retail industry, Fred Meyer has been one of the best. My coworkers are pretty much all fantastic. It's a union job, which should speak for itself. The PICs are really understanding to your situation. Most of the customers seem friendly.

    Cons

Usually, hours aren't regular. I mostly work evenings, but I've also been thrown into morning shifts a few times. Like most retail businesses, there are some nasty customers, but as long as you can just move on from the last customer, you'll be fine.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I haven't worked here for super long, but for the length of time that I have been here I really enjoy working here.

I have been working at Fred Meyer full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Great benefits, wages/salaries. Culturally aware and company works to make everyone feel wanted and comfortable. Leadership positive. Likes to promote from within and movement up the corporate ladder and from one department to another not discouraged. The company likes to develop the potential in all employees. Friendly atmosphere. Stock price going up.

    Cons

Since the culture is one of tolerance it is easier for some to work less hard and survive in the workplace. These employees tend to be around longer than they would at other places. This can be annoying for those whose work ethic is stronger.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be judicial in all disputes and customer complaints.
