Good bonus and fair compensation. Profitable company with good future outlook. Some positive elements of corporate culture

    Cons

Their local management in some locations is autocratic and unethical. Their ethic hotline is not worth anything. They fire people that made complains in good faith.

    Advice to Management

    Pros

They have good pay and benefits. The people you work with are okay . They have started a training program in Bagdad now.

    Cons

The management is out to get you most of the time. They are all looking to move up to up and don't care how they do it. The morale is really bad.

    Advice to Management

Main office should look in to what really is going on. They all cover for each other.

    Pros

    Fortune 500
Very good name to have on résumé
Opportunity to work for a global company and travel internationally
Salary and bonus are higher than average for Phoenix

If you love office politics and big corporate bureaucracy, this is the place for you.

    Cons

You will be worked to the max.
Management has unreal expectations deliverable timelines then complains when mistakes are made.

Don't work hard and expect to be promoted, it will never happen. The harder you work, you will be given more and more of the same type of work, thereby inadvertently becoming a specialist. As result, management will pass you over for promotion due to the niche you put yourself in.

Management will fill your head with all sorts of fantasies of promotions and working all over the world. Once again, this will never happen. They will tell you whatever they feel you need to hear to get you to come in and do whatever work you have been assigned. Management want pliable people they can push around. If you have an opinion about how things should be done, either keep it to yourself or you will be stuck in your job for the duration of your time at the company.

Lastly, if all else fails, when discussing career development, management will tell you "You don't want to do that, you're in a better opportunity to advance in your current role". If you still persist, you will eventually be told vague and ambiguous reasons such as attitude and other behavioral issues are holding you back. All while you regularly see management berate and yell at you and your co-workers on a fairly regular basis.

    Advice to Management

Get rid of the legacy Phelps Dodge management. They are the primary reason morale is so low.

The benefits are great and the pay is above average. There can also be room for advancement in certain fields.

    Cons

The work environment can be quite negative. The supervisors raise their voices to get points across and there is a lack of respect in the workplace.

    Pros

the work can be challenging, which will keep you busy and never bored with nothing to do. most of the employees are really friendly and easy to get a long with....i've made some great friends at Freeport

    Cons

your reward for good work is more work. hr has a stranglehold on job descriptions and grades with little wiggle room for managers to improve their direct reports' pay. bonus structure is based on a bell curve as though we are in college, with an emphasis on placing people in an "average" category despite whatever effort they put forth. freeport is full of "yes men" and upper management is completely out of touch with employees. there is significant resentment in the workforce due to management and upper management not recognizing good work that employees do and not pushing for appropriate compensation.

    Advice to Management

start paying more attention to what is going on around there. find out how projects are actually going instead of relying on "yes men" for status reports. reward those who go out of their way to do a good job rather than allowing them to become jaded, run down, and frustrated.
