I worked at Fujitsu Network Communications full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Good pay, family friendly. By and large the people I worked with good people.

    Cons

Incestuous corporate culture. Everything you say, do, buy and sell must be with other Fujitsu companies. Clueless or gutless on how to run a business in America. Extremely cowardly leadership interested only in self preservation and image. I was with the company for close to two decades and now that I'm out it's glaringly apparent how bad the leadership was in this company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get out from under the thumb of the mothership and run the company like any other American company. Otherwise, you will be closing your doors in the next five years. Pay and benefits are great - however, these are the two least favored attributes of the most successful companies for which people want to work.

    Pros

    Good Work-life balance.
    Decent Pay.
    No excessive stress!

    Cons

No growth prospects and no defined career development plan.
    Extremely slow development cycles.
    Not much innovation.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Implement 1, 2, 5 year vision plan and come up with products ides before the competition.
Ratio of planning+PMO team is way too large than development team.

I have been working at Fujitsu Network Communications full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Executive leadership is taking real steps towards improvement. Relaxed atmosphere in the work place, and a balanced work/life approach. Many employees have been there for decades, so retention is very good.

    Cons

Many employees have been there for decades, so change is difficult to come by sometimes.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Would like to see a younger office culture, more professional dress, and programs to help employee career growth.

I have been working at Fujitsu Network Communications full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

The Salaries are decent, and most of the people are friendly
Benefits could be a bit better, but could be a lot worse.

    Cons

    No corporate strategy whatsoever
No new product in the pipeline
    S_L_O_W development times and cycles
    Hierarchical culture
    Dearth of training opportunities
    Slaves to SAP

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The reorg looked great on paper, but the culture is still largely the same. It's time to develop a strategy based on new technologies and stick with it. It's also time to reevaluate the benefit of owning manufacturing. Maybe contract manufacturing is the way to go.

I have been working at Fujitsu Network Communications full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Good benefits, pay is around industry average, good facilities.

    Cons

Lack of leadership and vision. There doesn't seem to be any consensus on where to take the company. Most decisions are made in a reactionary mode rather than anticipating outcomes and working to maximize the best result.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Come up with a five year plan and find out where telecommunications is going. Try to join the leaders. Try to remember who brought you to the dance.

I worked at Fujitsu Network Communications full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

This company has good benefits and reasonable pay.

    Cons

FNC has been going through multiple reorganizations over the past two years. They seem to be shedding experienced senior leadership and engineers to save salary expense. Expect a transformation to a service based company if they survive the transformation.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Reconsider your commitment to employees. Develop a five year plan and adjust as annually.

I have been working at Fujitsu Network Communications full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

FNC completed the last round of layoffs that were announced a couple of months ago. One goal was to reduce the number of layers of management. The new organization does look leaner, and departments were shuffled and new ones created to reflect the goals going forward. Kudos for that.

    Cons

Most of the people let go were deadwood, with a few notable exceptions. But those remaining have been here for years and will continue the same old same old attitude that has gotten FNC to the silo'd, turf protecting company that it is today. We will slug it out and keep on going but we can do much better.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't listen so much to the consulting group, and listen more to the folks trying to get the work done. You say the walls have to come down but you have the same building crew you had before.
