    Pros

The discount at Best Buy is pretty good. I know at the Plano store the people really know what they are doing.

    Cons

There are many responsibilities to understand.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Geek Squad is big on integrity. Make sure if you have issues to get them taken care of before they become overwhelming.

I worked at Geek Squad part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

This job can be very rewarding if you like to help people, solve problems and enjoy a lot of different interactions.

    Cons

The pay is pretty poor, the training is bit of a joke and a lot of the processes involved are unneccessarily complex.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Increase pay! Geek Squad is quite profitable and would be even more so if the employees were paid a more competitive wage. Turnover is high due to the pay.

    I worked at Geek Squad

    Pros

Experience and mostly a sales position.

    Cons

Just as much a sales position as it is troubleshooting/consultation.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Higher more mature employees.

I have been working at Geek Squad part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

-I loved the vibe of the work-space.
-All of the other agents in the precinct were good co-workers.
-Got to work on random electronics that wondered in the Best Buy.

    Cons

    The management flopped pretty quick.
-Wouldn't work with school schedule because they were too understaffed.
-Promised raises upon hire, but people who worked there for 3 years hardly hit their cap.
-The GM was shady, and followed me out of the store multiple times (even with my family) for no reason.
    -Wouldn't give me tuition reimbursement.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Trust your employees. Stand behind your word and character. Hire the correct amount staff needed to support your positions.

I have been working at Geek Squad part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

If you take the time to learn. You can learn a lot about troubleshooting and fixing computers. Which can build your experience for the future.

    Cons

They expect you to do everything. From fixing computer, online orders, learn to sell every product in the store, returns, stocking, and other stuff.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Learn to be reasonable with the employees and not treat us like expendables.

    Pros

Great company to gain some computer repair experience with, you deal with a wide variety of issues.

    Cons

Not much in the way of growth, management oftentimes doesnt know much about computer repair, will oftentimes push sales over providing good technical support.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Learn about computers before you try to boss your technicians around like you can the rest of the store.

    Pros

    Good pay
    Laid back
    Good employees
    Good room for improvement

    Cons

    Selling product on floor
    Uptight management
    Horrible associate rotation
    Random hours/Early Sunday meetings

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Techs are not sales people. 90% of us are introverts and it's counter productive to put us in awkward social situations where you have to cram a product down someone's throat along with 57 addons and a service plan you know the customer doesn't need.

Former Employee - PC Double Agent in Saint Louis, MO

I worked at Geek Squad full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

flexible hours, plenty of hands on time with technology if you have the right job title, develop excellent soft skills that will be valuable later in your career. Generally a fun place to work and they provided training on new technology as well as technical training for PC repair.

    Cons

retail, retail, it's retail. Don't really make a lot of money considering the amount of knowledge you need. Usually was under pressure from management to sell more. Not working a set schedule can make things tough on the family.
