ProsLots of flexibility, many different paths to take. Learn and grow with the company. Great Benefits. Lots of training available and ability to move into whatever role best suits your strengths.

ConsLots of change, turnover is high, consistency across the company, high learning curve at the beginning and moves very fast.

Amazing company!

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

I have been working at Geek Squad full-time for more than a year

ProsGeek Squad has the best culture of any place I've ever been employed. Lots of room for advancement, talent is recognized and rewarded, and performance development is a top priority. Constantly changing and innovating to stay current with employee and client needs. Agents have access to fantastic tools, the pay is very high compared to other Best Buy employees (although not comparable to most IT work) but working for GS is most enjoyable than most of the IT work I've done. Medical benefits, once full time, are fantastic and well priced. The new bonus structure is fair and rewards agents who serve clients well.

ConsThe biggest con of working for Geek Squad is working for Best Buy. Agents at the retail level have it rough, being in the stores. Once you get into online support, Geek Squad City, or corporate you have it good. Working for Best Buy (or any retail store, for the matter) is enough to drive most people insane.

Working for Geek Squad

Geek Squad, Super Senior CIA (Current Employee)
Richfield, MN

I have been working at Geek Squad full-time for more than 3 years

ProsHere is the thing about geek squad. working for geek squad isn't like working for a normal repair place, these agents have culture and love their jobs so much, that its not a job any more. it becomes a hobby!! if you get a chance i would defiantly try to work for them!!!

ConsI cant think of any!

Advice to Senior ManagementYou have buncha nerds under your management, train them to the max!! it will help you all

Great place to work!

Covert Agent (Current Employee)
Englewood, CO

I have been working at Geek Squad full-time for more than 7 years

ProsManagement is generally fair and the culture fosters curiosity. I have easily learned more in my time with Geek Squad than I have learned at any other point in my life up to now.

ConsAll the cons you would expect of a retail job - difficult to get weekend/holidays off, occasional inflexibility with hours and/or availabilities, etc.

Advice to Senior ManagementThe senior management is doing an excellent job of growing the brand and helping employees.

Fun and challenging place to work with non stop action paced work environment.

Counter Intelligence Agent (Former Employee)
Chicago, IL

I worked at Geek Squad part-time for more than 8 years

ProsYou get to socialize with customers
You get to fix computers all day and solve difficult problems
Co workers are often times highly skilled with computers so there is lots to talk about.

ConsThe pay is much too low. I worked there for a long time and my pay there did not even come remotely close to what I could make doing the same thing for a corporate IT job. But of all the jobs I worked, it was easily the funnest job I've had.

Advice to Senior ManagementRetain the better employees by raising pay.

Fast paced work

Geek Squad CIA (Current Employee)
Gainesville, GA

I have been working at Geek Squad part-time for more than 7 years

ProsFast paced work environment.
Places for advancement.
Technical skills required daily.
Always an opportunity for advanced learning

ConsAdvancement may take long periods of time.

Advice to Senior ManagementUtilize the Geek Squad CIA agents for what they are, Computer Repair Technicians. I spent two years working at Best Buy, LLC. and in those two years, I was used as a computer sales associate, Home Entertainment sales associate, etc. All while wearing my GS uniform. More times than not, I was asked to perform the job of what others should have easily been able to do. Especially on days when the single CIA agent is the only person covering the GS counter, do not ask them to make a sale elsewhere in the store. Do not just drop a bomb on them, such as a customer who is not wanting any services, etc.

Great work environment for service oriented people.

Geek Squad CIA (Current Employee)
Issaquah, WA

I have been working at Geek Squad full-time for less than a year

ProsFun, interesting, evolving at all times. This job has been a great way to build teamwork experience and develop tools to train other co workers within my store.

ConsNot every process is trained in full, you are expected to seek out the knowledge you are responsible for, this is something I would change if I were given the opportunity.

Advice to Senior ManagementPromote and hire from within, this will encourage employees to do better for their own store, hiring from the outside into management discourages employees from doing their best to evolve.

Amazing place to work.

Geek Squad Installer (Current Employee)
Dallas, TX

I have been working at Geek Squad

ProsCompetitive Pay, Benefits, Company issued vehicle, furnished tools, corporate card, company laptop with air card, company phone. Were are given all the tools needed to perform our jobs successfully.

ConsAt times hours vary drastically from 32 hrs to perhaps 60 hrs per week. Days can be 4 hrs or less and even 12 hrs or more. We have jobs scheduled in time slots but these jobs can be quite large and lengthy. We have the capability of driving long distances. All in all we are hourly paid so this can also be a pro depending on how you look at it.

Advice to Senior ManagementContinue to improve from challenges and changes in our evolving business. You have done a superb job to date. You do your job to the best of your ability and i will do the same with mine.

Amazing Place to Work

Shipping (Current Employee)
Louisville, KY

I have been working at Geek Squad

ProsEasy work, great hours, off on the weekends, great Management. Since I work at the warehouse that computers get sent to get repaired, there is a game room for when you go on your breaks. The game room includes: Xbox (with kenect and any known game for xbox), PS3 with any game known for ps3, massaging bucket chairs, unlimited internet access and TV's. The cafe' includes: restaurant like food, plenty of vending machines, plenty of room for seating, cake for birthdays evrey month, a door for the smoking area, and led tv's mounted on the walls for entertainment while eating lunch. Eeryone that works in this building is absolutely spoiled! I love it!

ConsEveryone has their own clique they hang out with so when newby's come in, they get the cold shoulder. Parking is a major problem they need to get fixed. i have to walk a half mile from my car to the door everyday. And i really dont like the fact of wearing the uniforms but over all, this is by far the best job i will ever have.

Advice to Senior ManagementKeep Doing what your doing. You've done a great job with your staffing and over all layout of how a company is supposed to run.
