    Pros

Great company perks, mostly friendly people
    Management is decent
    Pay is good

    Cons

    HR is useless
    Some nepotism, lots of gossiping
Middle management is a hit or miss

    Advice to Management

Fire employees if they are bad at their jobs (contractors are easily fired all the time but employees are almost never fired)

    Pros

Great opportunities for career development. Great benefits if you are a regular employee. Beautiful campus.

    Cons

Can be difficult to get promoted in some departments either because the criteria for a promotion is too stringent or because people stay at the company forever and don't leave many job openings to advance into.

    Advice to Management

Contractors don't get benefits, vacation time or sick days and get paid less than regular employees. It seems unfair since contractors are doing the same amount of work as the regular employees. If you must keep people as contractors, they should be paid more than the regular employees to compensate for the lack of benefits and vacation time. Level the playing field.

I worked at Genentech as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

Working here is a lot easier if you just act nice with your coworkers, work hard, finish up your assigned job and go home which is pretty much what I did and it turned out to be fine. Communications is key. So is being a team player.
Oh, they have a great campus too.

    Cons

Politics. Like I said, act nice, work hard and you will be fine.
Shift (not a con but something to watch out). Your shift members play an important role in your career here. It all depends on how many are willing to train you? How many simply sit around their desks doing nothing?
Micromanagement. One-one meeting with higher authorities if you're a blue badge. Again, you'll be fine if you finish up your job daily before you leave.

    Advice to Management

Stop the hiring spree and work hard to keep your employees.

    Pros

Great compensation commensurate with the intensity and responsibility. Money rarely seems to me an issue, patient safety and supply are the drivers.

Exceptional people work here, which is great to work with.

    Cons

Project time lines can be escalated which increases the amount of work and stress in a short period of time.

Not many people can handle the workload and responsibilities. Surrounded by exceptional people, so if you aren't of caliber it will be noticed.

    Pros

Excellent transportation options available to get you to and from work.

    Cons

Highly competitive work environment that focuses on quantity of work not quality.

    Advice to Management

Creating a cut-throat, dog-eat-dog atmosphere only leads to errors, poor performance, and breeds animosity among peers.
