I have been working at General Dynamics C4 Systems

    Pros

The pay, benefits, and work/personal time off balance is very good. Advancement is available if you advance yourself such as gaining a degree or graduate degree and a few certificates as needed by the industry.

    Cons

During the past few years, raises have been very slim if at all to maintain the employees on hand.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep doing what they are doing. Management is in tune with the employees.

    Pros

Great work place to be in, challenging projects and work/life balance. Engineers enjoy working here solving problems in many areas from hw to sw

    Cons

Since its a Defense contractor getting new and extensions for the programs is becoming difficult. Its hard to get motivated and work focused when people around were let go

    Pros

Good career advancement opportunities and a variety of different types of programs to work on.

    Cons

Lack of vision from the business leadership and poor/slow response to shifting market priorities, staffing needs, etc... the upper management's style is very re-active and not really consistent.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Do better at projecting both the business markets you're in as well as the employment market your people are in... you can better estimate staff needs, attrition rates and where your company is headed.

    Pros

Terrific employees who serve heroes. We connect and protect warfighters and first responders.

    Cons

All businesses have down cycles in their markets, and C4 Systems continues to weather theirs as the U.S. Army rests following two wars which have taken a tremendous toll.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take advantage of your immediate opportunity with Mission Systems to form an even better company.

I have been working at General Dynamics C4 Systems full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

used to be a great place to work; the only pros left in existence are the customers and the good coworkers that are left.

    Cons

leadership looks out for themselves; employees feel all the pain; ethics are a thing of the past; good old boy network is strong for top 10% of employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

don't expect your employees to do/feel anything you don't expect of yourselves; for example, if there are no merits for rank and file employees, there should be no merits across the board - top level should feel the same pain the other employees feel - we work hard for this company too, without us, where would you be? There are many examples like this. You have stopped "caring" about your workforce and don't communicate with us. You communicate with the same people all the time and the rest of us don't seem to matter.

    Pros

Work-life balance is pretty good. Can't complain there.

    Cons

The management at corporate headquarters has no idea that things are as bad as they are. Process is overdone and production isn't quality.

I have been working at General Dynamics C4 Systems full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Very rewarding work. I feel like my job has a direct impact on the company's mission and goals. I know that others in the company also feel that their work contributes directly to the needs of the warfighter, that what their doing saves lives. I'm very satisfied with my work when I go home at the end of the day, and that's a great feeling.

    Cons

This is a big company, and with a big company comes a lot of management. Though the company has had to restructure, they have done so to make the business more efficient. Many complain about that change, but I see it as business-is-business. What are you going to do? All companies behave that way, they're simply looking to protect their future.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be honest and open with your employees, they can take it. It's when you're quiet that they fill in the gaps with rumors and horrible comments.
