    Pros

none that I can think of. unless you like to never have the time off that you need/want

    Cons

I have shared my concerns with upper management. they don't care. therapists can be bought oversees and then owned until their H1B visas are up. everyone is replaceable, and at a lower rate/hr.

    Advice to Management

I know management does not read these reviews. i know it for a fact. someday i hope CMS will catch up with this company and do a review of treatments, notes and billing levels .

Worst company I have EVER worked for!!

    Current Employee - Anonymous Employee
    Current Employee - Anonymous Employee

I have been working at Genesis HealthCare

    Pros

Plenty of hours to work and get burned out!
    Decent health and dental benefits.
Eant time acceues rather quickly over time.

    Cons

Constant phone calls to cover shifts! NO COMMUNICATION whatsoever between upper management and front line staff.
POOR ORIENTATIONS!! New staff just thrown into working without proper training since building is so short staffed. Completely unfair if you ask me!!

Complaints are not taken seriously by DON and or administrator!! Unless its something of course that will effect upper management.

Too many family members working under the same roof! Ex- mother is a nurse on a unit and her daughter is an LNA. Conflict of interest if you ask me!

No real interviews. I came in showed proof of who I am and my nursing license and was hired on the spot!! Then references and background checked!!!

They promise you the world and then take it away.

EXTREMELY high turnover rates for staff.

    FAVORITISM!!

    No accountability for your actions!

Staff is not appreciated and are over worked!

    Advice to Management

Employee satisfaction surveys would be a great start.

    Pros

I loved taking care of the residents.

    Cons

People who need to be fired don't.

    Advice to Management

Fire the ones who bring the drama into the facility. Don't let couples work together because that's where the drama is based.

  7. Wealthcare VS Heakthcare - for this company it's what's in the bank is what matters , NOT PATIENTS OR EMPLOYEES

    Pros

Tell you all the right things you want to hear , good pay , benefits , etc . , lies ! If you're lucky enough to get the right PM , facility and co-workers , it may be bearable but beware , things change frequently with this company , staff , rules , etc .... working for this company id NOT " LIKE A BOX OF CHOCOLATES " , at least with chocolates, they're sweet , this company doesn't care about anything except for how much money you are making for the company.

    Cons

Lowest paying company in the Philadelphia and surrounding counties . Inconsistent management, poor communication throughout company , lack of positive recognition , always being told that you're "replaceable " doesn't make for a positive work environment. Constantly have too much work to take break but they're deducted from pay anyway . Benefits are way too high , forced to join company " wellness program " or pay bi-weekly penalty , only recognize 2 holidays

    Advice to Management

Stop micro - managing ! Stop looking for " issues " based on others personal feelings / statements about someone and truely investigate the facts ! Don't be afraid to speak the truth , even if it causes you to be " placed on a PIP or CA . TAKE THE BINDERS OFF !!!!!

    Pros

Coworkers and the patients...it's getting harder and harder to spend quality time with patients due to productivity standards.

    Cons

Horrific benefits, poor pay, limited support from mgt, unrealistic productivity standards, unreasonable schedules and vacation requirements, no 401k match, no overtime or holiday pay.

    Advice to Management

Start investing in your employees and worry less about your bottom line...good employees are starting to leave...address this now before the flood gates open up and you go bankrupt again!

    Pros

The patient's, nurses, cna's that are all over worked and underpaid

    Cons

low pay, ridiculous expensive benefits, all about how much money they can make. Patients go without. Low staff moral.

    Advice to Management

Considering how big Genesis is the benefits should be 1/3 of what they are. Stop pressuring staff to cut corners in order to get out on time. Can't blame the facility managers as they are getting the pressure from corporate. Corporate needs to be way less greedy.

    Pros

1.) Great coworkers in the therapy dept.
    2.) Good CFY supervision provided.
3.) Free CEUs offered online only (via GRS university), but this is in place of therapists going to outside providers for CEUs.

    Cons

1.) Productivity standards for therapists are unethical and unrealistic, and it's all that upper management cares about. If you aren't productive, you will be bullied and written up for low productivity, even if you are a good clinician and patient advocate.
2.) Increased demand placed on PT/OT for documentation, particularly when they don't see the same patients everyday.
3.) Documentation system is convoluted, cumbersome, and overly time-consuming. In addition, computers are in shoddy condition at best, further interfering with therapist's ability to manage time effectively.
4.) Forget about reimbursement for CEUs or even basic training required for our job (e.g CPR recertification).
5.) Limited assessment tools. Management is pressing for standardized tools but are unwilling to pay for new speech assessments needed. I have no assessments for my low-level patients which compromises my ability to develop appropriate POC.
6.) Terrible health benefits for a healthcare company.
7.) Toxic animosity between therapy and nursing (note: this may be specific to my center). In addition, upper level management for rehab is totally blind to this animosity and how the dynamic affects patient care. All upper management cares is whether the department is hitting it's 85-90% PCH (patient care hours).
8.) Raises are almost non-existent (frozen for 2013 and 2014), and when you do receive a raise (supposedly this year), it is merit-based (largely on productivity) and does not keep pace with inflation (1-2%).
9.) Unless you want to be a rehab manager, there is no opportunity for advancement.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees. Treat us with respect because we have worked hard for our degrees and licenses. The bottom line is important, but management constantly puts therapists in a position to compromise quality patient care for another dollar.

    Pros

They have not eliminated paid time off or medical benefits yet.

    Cons

Unreasonable productivity demands causing ethical billing delemmas daily
    No breaks
    No pay raise in years
All the company cares about is making money, compromising quality of care to do so
They do no allow COTA's to perform at the top of their license, you are treated more like a rehab tech
Although you receive paid sick leave, you are strongly encouraged to make up the day or get written up for taking 3 separate days within 90 days.

    Advice to Management

Management needs to acknowledge work well done and not just productivity. It would be helpful if management also recognized we are working with medically compromised individuals who have rights and those rights need to be acknowledged.
