    Pros

Continuing education online courses. Nice, but similarly overworked coworkers.

    Cons

Untrustworthy management. No appreciation for hard work. More and more constantly being asked of a smaller amount of staff. Benefits, holidays, time-off requests and coverage micromanaged and cut back. Non-competitive pay.

    Advice to Management

Stop treating your staff as disposable. Remember how it was to be a therapist and how you may have wanted to be treated as a professional who had their management's support and the tools, time, and resources to provide their best treatment.

    Pros

    some good coworkers. ok facilities

    Cons

PTAs treated as rehab techs no use of modalities, more concerned with productivity and not about patient care. Management comparing health field to car dealerships. Questionable billing

    Advice to Management

Medicare is going is going to catch up with this company as they did with others. No you did not event everything. Do not give us vacation days that are hard to get. And really no holiday pay? Why doesn't apply to you?

    Pros

Team work was great, everyone was committed to helping out clients, we all worked together, loved all the co-workers . Friendly atmosphere

    Cons

Management had no clue how to run a department. It seemed like every week we were trying a new program and when that didn't work to their expectations, they threw out the whole program and tried another one. They didn't try to fix it, they just threw it out. They didn't even know how to run their own programs and to make any changes to it. Everyone was expected to do more in less time. Computer system kept crashing and there was not enough computers to do the required paperwork. Managers knew this and yelled at people all the time. No raises for anyone in years. No thank you, nothing for a good job.

    Advice to Management

Get the computers that are required for people to do their jobs. Support your staff. Quit worrying about buying the next thing and instead worry about paying people who work for you. A little appreciation would go a long ways towards keeping people. You claim you appreciate people but you never show it. You need to show that you appreciate the people who work for you and not just the middle management and upper management people.

    Pros

Decent pay, PTO, free CEU system (just a bunch of power points, not really effective)

    Cons

GRS is an ungrateful, manipulative, disrespectful excuse for a rehab complany. You never feel like your job is secure, always at risk for transfer to other buildings or traveling up to 2 hours away to another building when caseload is low. I worked under several managers, each with their "pets" that got privileges (off every holiday, modified schedule when requested, shorter weekend hours etc...) while the rest of the team sits in disbelief of the biased treatment. The relationship between GRS and GHC is awful, no respect between therapy and nursing and administration, makes caring for your patients hard. Managers make excuses for low merit raises and blame it on the company as a whole, once they actually do your review 4-5 months after it was due. Absolutely no flexibility, tons of PTO but you can't ever use it. If you're hired on at less than 40, expect to work 40 without any of the benefits of a 40 hour employee. You will be their pawn, a puzzle piece that they just try to stick anywhere that works for them, such a shame. Your individual talents are not acknowledged let alone appreciated, you're expendable. You're scheduled at 90% productivity but told under the table, 85% is okay while still fitting in all those patient's in one day. Horrible healthcare benefits, expect to go on Obamacare if you have a family... it'll be cheaper than healthcare from genesis.

    Pros

Coworkers are amazing. Hours can be flexible if agreed with supervisor. Team effort felt in most departments

    Cons

Horrible benefits, no appreciation for lower staff. Only allow standard hours for vacation time even if you work over that for over a year.

    Advice to Management

Appreciate your employees. Remember they are the ones who are representing the company to the consumer not your cooperate employees

    Pros

Pay was pretty good, benefits. Coworkers are nice. I can't think of anything else beneficial

    Cons

Poor administration and poor management. Low employee moral, admin and mgmt are uncaring and rude, only worried about gossip and he say she say talk. Lots if nepatism and favoritism. Staffing was horrible. Staffing person is the meanest unqualified nasty person I ever met. Puts your license in jeapordy.

    Advice to Management

Quit..you need more training especially sensitivity training.

    Pros

Salary.... they will pay premium if merited and if they are in a pickle.

    Cons

They don't know what they are doing in attempting to absorb the Skilled and Sun purchases. The culture is broken and there is not vision for the transition. They may be the biggest...but a crash is coming if they do not course correct. Regional Leadership teams are political and unorganized. Actual support to operations is limited as a result. Policy and procedures are difficult to locate and frequently not implemented... and it is an accepted practice.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your Administrators... the ones with the numbers to back their results. Long Time Employees are not always honest...but better manipulators.

    Pros

Very "System-Driven" Company. Lots to offer in terms of education internally to its employees.

    Cons

Depending on the building you work in,upper management supports certain ethnic groups within buildings, letting them " run the show" over middle management, making the workplace uncomfortable. Leads to loss of good people, turnover, and an overall negative culture.

    Advice to Management

Support the new talent which comes into buildings and help create a more harmonious working environment with the line/supervisory staff who are the backbone of the facility. If everyone can work together, there would be less turnover.

    Pros

They are always short on staffing and its easy to get per diem hours...sometimes weekend schedule is unrealistic!

    Cons

Genesis pays full time therapists peanuts, its surprising they get anyone to hire FT. Nurses in most Genesis buildings are union. They could care less. They give spotty care and will leave patients in their own waste for hours. I love to do ADL's with my patients and this ensures they get some good care, but, most times, you will not find a towel or bottle of cleanser anywhere on the unit for ADL's!!!! Honestly, I don't know how the state reviewers don't get to shut some of these places down. It's atrocious. Therapists are of course stressed out and disrespected by nursing because they demand better care of their patients. One time a CNA refused to Hoyer a patient out of bed for a therapy session and proceeded to tell me that I should be seeing him in bed anyway. When I called the nursing supervisor to report, she too turned against me and sent me back to the aid saying I had to work with the CNA. Needless to say, the patient remained in bed all day and missed treatment! Another CNA that did not want to get a patient washed and dressed said to me, "what are you doing with him anyway...he's too sick to have therapy." Genesis management close their eyes to all this substandard care, pay the big fish huge dollars, while therapists slave away daily, trying to provide gold standard care in despicable conditions. Therapists carry these buildings financially but are the least recognized. Nursing and union call the shots!!!!
