I have been working at Genesys as a contractor for more than a year

    Pros

The company is honestly interested in learning and growing, and trying to do the best for its employees. There are a lot of kind people who work there, and they are trying hard to retain that value. There is a growing awareness that this is a global company and recognition of that fact in the services and messaging to the employees.

    Cons

It can sometimes be difficult to get people to make decisions, or to understand who the stakeholders are. Unearthing information for a project is sisyphean at times. There are perceived deltas between the new people and the old people that will get troublesome over time.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep up the good work on employee communication, and continue to focus on developing thoughtful, informed managers. Keep elevating the conversation about what kind of company Genesys wants to be.

I have been working at Genesys full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Great co workers, fun environment where we have fun activities in the office. Always new things to do and growing opportunities.

    Cons

In the acquisitions sometimes its a little chaotic and employees feel a little lost in the crowd. But only good has come from growing and expanding.

I have been working at Genesys full-time for less than a year

    Pros

I like the fact that I have the ability to work from home or out of the office; gives great flexibility. The employees are very friendly and there is a lot of co-operation between consultants when working on projects. The company has a very strong customer base at the high end of the market but is also making strides in the mid market.. Much of its growth has been inorganic, though. I also like the idea of the Associate program as it gives new recruits the opportunity to learn in the classroom setting and apply those skills in the field. The pay is good but could be better and the benefits are excellent. The annual COMPASS event where most employees converge to learn and have fun is GREAT!!!!

    Cons

Given the fact that the company is undergoing a transformation, changes are taking place and there can sometimes be confusion in some of the business processes.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I would like to see more aggressive brand awareness for the company such as Genesys' logo at major sporting events, commercials on mass media and the like.

    Pros

I have never worked in a place with such emphasis on teamwork and collaboration. Excellent training program and Genesys offers opportunity to grow into the role that is fit for you. After a change in industry, Genesys is a huge breath of fresh air.

    Cons

I have been working at Genesys full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

    - Brilliant engineering
The company has probably the best Contact Center Stack on the market. Virtually the same architecture evolved successfully from "Atari Times" into the WEB APIs world
    - Focus on Mid Market and Cloud!
Trying to aggressively penetrate the Mid Market and offering cloud solution, that's forcing the company to redesign the interfaces, making the product much easier, ergonomic and "beautiful". A lot of resources are allocated to R&D
    - Start up "feeling" with IPO potential
The company has now almost 3000 employees. But at the headquarter you will enjoy free sodas, ping pong tables, cozy couches where to play Xbox games. Employees' happy hours and breakfasts in the fancy cafeterias are commons.
    - The owners are not milking the company as a cash cow. All the (lot) money the company is making is re invested in R&D and acquisitions.
    - Vacations days
The company policy doesn't put a cap on the paid vacation days. Taking a reasonable number of vacation days is reccomended

    Cons

    - Daly City location
The company headquarter is located in a quite foggy/unattractive location. But It's well served by Bart
    - Benefits package
They are ok, but they are becoming sub par when compared with the industry
    - Compensation
Good salary package, but hey we are in the Silicon Valley, there are companies out there which offer much more money for brilliant engineers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    - Put the right people at the right places
    - Avoid the temptation to structure too much the processes . An example is the vacation policy: it' s awesome but if you add too many exceptions or regulations It sounds fishy
    - Re open an office in the East Bay. Many of the engineers are based in the Walnut Creek area.

I have been working at Genesys full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

The company is growing and you have the potential to grow with it.
There are lots of internal movement opportunities.
Great culture and people are cooperative to work with.

    Cons

With growth there is some pain in keeping up with the pace.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Find the right balance between new and tenured employees in regards to the methodologies or approaches being taken. Not all the old methodologies or approaches need to be changed.

I have been working at Genesys full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Family friendly work place. People cared about one another. Not back-stabbing. Several incredibly smart people. Freedom to try new things and think big picture.

    Cons

There was little internal communication about the direction of the company. It was very hard to get agreement at an executive level. There was too high a tolerance for sloppy work, especially in execution: Meetings start late, errors in public communication, lack of clear objectives, lack of post-project follow up (was it successful? etc.).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Put the customers first. Not the IPO or Premera.

The potential for growth in Genesys is tremendous. The people, from high level executives to peers, are all very friendly and willing to help new folks like me.

    Cons

I have been working at Genesys full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Innovative products that lead the contact center industry. All of us will go out of our way to make sure the Customer needs are met. At professional services, we build and implement large (> $1M) solutions for big enterprises (Banks, telecom companies, utilities etc).We get to work from home full time in any US city (Travel to customer sites as necessary).

    Cons

Not much in terms of career growth opportunities. Fairly static careers for all my co-workers and managers. Genesys is pretty much focused only on the contact center and maybe not for someone interested in fast growth sectors like Mobile Computing, Big Data and Machine Learning etc. They recently acquired companies to have products in the Cloud, but I don't see much of it in my line of work (yet). We HAVE to work from home full time!
