    Pros

Friendly, hard-working, enthusiastic employees. Cohesive supportive team. Being a part of a cutting edge industry is amazing. It's really up to you how quickly and how far you can move up. You just have to look out for the right opportunity for you and go for it.

I have been working at Genomic Health

    Pros

Great product makes employees feel proud to work here. Good culture, good pay, good benefits. Prospects and growth are pluses

    Cons

Company culture can be a bit too nice and accountability sometimes lacking. Cross funcitonal unity could be improved. Commercial division acts like its own company and doesn't really seem to be integrated with rest of copany.

I have been working at Genomic Health

    Pros

    Dedicated employees
    Executives have a long-term outlook/strategy
    Growing like crazy

    Cons

Not enough headcount to keep up with workload
401k plan isn't competitive with other companies

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stick with the long term vision, but take a good look at departments that are suffering from lack of headcount or else employees will burn out or leave. Increase the matching funds for the 401k, too.

I have been working at Genomic Health

    Pros

My mother-in-law and the friend of my close friend have both used Genomic Health's Oncotype DX kit for breast cancer, and have used the test results to make informed treatment decisions in light of their diagnosis. It feels unreal that I was the one who recommended the test to them, knowing how their test results impacted their lives for the better. As an employee, I feel a direct connection between the work I do and those who I care about. This focus on patient health is pervasive throughout the company, and is a key contributor to a cooperative spirit throughout the organization.

    Cons

The growing pains commonly experienced as a start-up gains size and momentum are beginning to surface. Certain departments are holding the company back by resisting the change. Other departments are resource-constrained and becoming bottlenecks.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

In a portfolio with limited resources, there is a limit to how much can be done. Clear priorities need to be established and communicated throughout the organization.
