Work here if you LIKE being treated like a dog, otherwise RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN FROM THIS COMPANY!!!

Registered Nurse (Former Employee) Pensacola, FL

    ProsGood health insurance and PTO.

    ConsPoor work/ home life balance.
Overtime required to complete paperwork and must be done in the office if you want to get paid for it.
Office is located in a very poor and dangerous area in the city.
Supervisors prone to be cliquish with some employees and non inclusive to most others, unless you suck up to them.
Browbeating/backstabbing non-supportive management and untrustworthy coworkers.

Advice to Senior ManagementOne hand does not know what the other hand is doing: Get organized!
Treat your nurses with the respect they deserve.
Recognize and acknowledge the employees achievements/accomplishments regularly instead of focusing on the negatives all the time.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend

    Hostile

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

    ProsSome good people still remain

ConsHostile work environment is tolerated. Staffing model is all that matters and jobs fluctuate based on current census. Frequent layoffs.

Advice to Senior ManagementFollow your own mission statement

San Diego branch Director quits, many employees likely to lose all benefits.

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsBranch Director quits. Last week, clinicians in San Diego were told that they would be moved to per idem without benefits if they did not consistently maintain productivity. We were also told that other Branch Directors in the West region were also baling out.

ConsThe problem for RNs is that we can't always be as productive as we want because the MCPs tell us to hand off patients to LVNs. Also, there are weeks where there are not enough referrals and we are not productive due to this. Most of us are close to meeting the productivity goals. We are good people who do not deserve to be treated this way.

Advice to Senior ManagementI do not want to have my benefits eliminated. Gentiva is making a lot of money now. Is anybody listening?

So many good clinicians have left this branch in the last few months and the director is leaving next week. I am looking for another job too. I would advise people to stay away from this company.

    Unethical Reimbursement and Business Practices

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee) Atlanta, GA

ProsHard working staff that wanted to do a good job for the company.

ConsYou will be 'let go' for bringing things to their attention that they don't want anyone to know about.

Advice to Senior ManagementYou can't hide bad business practices forever...the issue caught up with you, didn't it?

    Run Do not work here!

Licensed Practical Nurse (Former Employee) Tacoma, WA

ProsGreat co wokers in the field! Love the patient care and the schedule flexibility

ConsHorrible management, very dis organized, staff is treated rudely by management. Very poor morale due to management.

Advice to Senior ManagementPlease get some management and supervisory staff in here who knows what is going on and how to run a business. You have excellent field staff but you are losing them because of the brutality of management

    Gentiva - Palm Desert, CA

Bereavement Coordinator (Current Employee) Palm Desert, CA

ProsGood patients and families to work with.

ConsNo leadership skills (new management). Employees are liars, defamed other employees, two- face, back stabbers and very envious. Lack of integrity and character, no compassion most of all management lack experience.

Advice to Senior ManagementGet rid of too many layers of Vice Presidents in the West Region. Wasting tax payers money and Medicare. Very heavy in middle management.

Worked directly with absolutely Great people but Corporate management seems completely focused on their balance sheet.

RN Case Manager (Former Employee) North Atlanta, GA

ProsThe character and compassion of the (disposable) people who you work with. ...... And if you like being used, lied to and then unceremoniously discarded with one day's notice & a two week severance package, Gentiva is a wonderful place.

ConsCorporate Leadership's history (and future) of closing offices and terminating employees because last month's plan is changed to not being in this month's plan. ..... One day you're told that you're doing a great job and the next you're told that you're no longer needed. Gentiva has become a company that makes money off their employee's compassion but has no compassion for it's employees.

Advice to Senior ManagementYou're on the path to move from being the "biggest player in the market" to becoming a business school "case study" on how to completely loose sight of what made you successful. .... And changing your name to try to avoid the bad reputation you're building in the market is not "a fix".

No Pay raise in over 2 years, now cutting pay

Physical Therapist (Current Employee) Baltimore, MD

ProsDid have stable staff, but now heavy turn over. No incentives to stay with company

ConsAll management cares about is money, poor communication. HR support is worthless. No response for promised employee referral bonus, no raises and now they are talking about cutting pay so they can buy up more agencies. They should invest in their employees and grow responsibly

Advice to Senior ManagementGrow responsibly, Too top heavy with management and programs that don't work. Administration doesn't listen to clinical needs, they are more focused about rolling out trendy programs that don't work, so marketing has something to talk about.

Hostile working environment - for me

Care Team Coordinator (Current Employee) Roseville, CA

ProsAt first, it was great, and I created my own niche as being in charge of the medical records room, as no one else was at the time. I made sure we were in compliance with all laws

ConsThey set me up to not get my work done on time by asking me to do a lot of other things. one gal that had been there a long time apparently felt threatened by me, she was about my age and we had both gained 40 lbs. I lost mine, but she didn't. She told everyone that I was doing illegal drugs - soooo not true.

Advice to Senior ManagementI had an excellent relationship with my boss until after 3 1/2 years, I went on a vacation. When I came back, he had somehow been turned against me and interrogated me for at least an hour about doing drugs. I am a 56-year-old grammy!!!!!
