I have been working at Gentiva full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Decent salary an PTO...until they cut PTO for newcomers

    Cons

Management, culture, you name it...they handled just about everything wrong...Promoting based on friendships vs. talent or seniority...
Benefits are expensive as they are self insured.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Look up words like integrity and professionalism in a dictionary.

    Pros

Good pto . Great friends wonderful pts. And families. Nice facilities with great staff

    Cons

Worst mgt. Brought in, many longterm nurses left and 3 medical directors

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Look at what is going on in Southfield office. Can't believe after mass exodus of experienced nurses and 3 medical directors these bullys are still in place. Guess you don't care since Kindred will come in and get rid of all of you...

I worked at Gentiva full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

It's a paycheck! Good people who enjoy what they do that make work environment enjoyable.

    Cons

Bad management on all levels: branch and executive directors don't do nothing, corporate office managers/supervisors don't do much. Hourly employees suffer the most. A lot of work for little pay and appreciation. No raises and high health benefit plan. Too much turn over!!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Grow up and take some managerial classes. Lose the selfie attitude when you get a upper management job title.

    Cons

The pay is low and it seem like you work for nothing the work you do is not taken seriously. Have PTO but can't use them really.

If you want to sit for hours listening to upper management types who have never been in the field use 'business speak"

I worked at Gentiva full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

None, unless you count the occasional plate of cupcakes brought in by one of the nurses who obviously just smoked half a pack before she came in

    Cons

Change of management every other week, upper management were clueless especially regional manager, flippant with policies, no solid method of documentation, did not pay for mileage in full. Expansion with no business plan laid in place, and no raises for clinical staf despite upper management recieving raises every year.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Quit! You are pretentious and about as down to earth as the International Space Station. What you lack in managerial skills you make up for in badly fitting business-casual attire, Jesus fishes and Rapture bumper stickers; if you were on fire I'd drink my own urine rather than put you out.

I worked at Gentiva full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Decent training. good insurance health benefit package.

    Cons

Too large a territory to manage. all decisions must go through an unseen corporate office. no way of really evaluating what patients should be taken on...central referral expects all to be. branches do not help each other

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Smaller areas of territory would lead to seeing the nurses more often and allow them to have a sense of being a part of something bigger.

    Former Employee - Anonymous Employee

I worked at Gentiva (more than 10 years)

    Pros

PTO, compensation,Insurance, Benefits only! only sperks was being full time to get benefits

    Cons

If you are honest , this is not the place for you. alot of back stabbing, lies, rumors, cover-ups, blame, non-professional, management, profanity infront of/directed at employees, bully tactics daily, threats made towards employees. You better do what your told even if unethical or your out of a job. If you have done nothing to lose your job, you will be pushed out with other tatics!!!!! Sorry BD!!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

When a branch of employees tries daily to report on going issues, and turnover is at an all time HIGH, take a close look at the leadership in all areas. When employess that have stood with the company for years through trials and tribulation are leaving and your leadership has only been in place for a year or two??? Something is not right!! value who has valued your company!!!! Great employees, help grow great business??? what do you really value?? as it looks, only the bottom $$$$$$$$$.
