    Pros

Strong and supportive team environment. The patients and families come first. Good work / life balance. Good benefits.

    Cons

None really. Some turnover but that is common in hospice as some people get in for the wrong reasons and it is a challenging profession.

I have been working at Gentiva (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Flexibility, caring network, solid support from corporate. Company provides decent benefits and very good, maybe the best, competitive compensation package for sales associates in this field.

    Cons

Area (Middle) management has little to no responsibility and is tasked with basically micro managing associates in the field. Recent mergers (2013) have added extra layers of management into the work line and it has been less of a motivating, more of a tasking, atmosphere since.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Utilize the sales tools to the max of their ability and use those tools to manage your workforce rather than have an Area Manager in the car with a sales person several times a week. Ride alongs slow down the field staff and make us feel like we don't really run our territory. You hire us to be field professionals, let us be.

I have been working at Gentiva full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Most of the employees I know, both admin and clinical, really care about the patients, and strive to provide them with ethical, quality care. Good benefits and room for advancement. Lots of LONG-term employees (20+ years with company) show its stability and attractiveness to potential employees.

    Cons

Because Gentiva is a Home Health & Hospice company, we're limited by process regulations and funding from CMS (Medicare/Medicaid), which creates some annoying blockades from providing quality care quickly and efficiently.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Review salary packages and branch spending habits - instead of occasional holiday parties and lunches, we'd rather be paid more!
