I have been working at Georgetown University

    Pros

Great people, environment and name recognition.

    Cons

Not a lot of opportunity to grow. Sometimes school politics gets in the way.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Needs to have more training and mentorship programs. Sometimes challenging for shy people.

I worked at Georgetown University (less than a year)

    Pros

Atmosphere, Peers, Location, and Personal Growth are all pros for being a part of the community here. The campus is very nice. Payments were on-time.

    Cons

Wages are not necessarily the best, public transportation is not as available as other areas in D.C., did not lead to new opportunities.

I have been working at Georgetown University

    Pros

I have plenty of opportunities for professional growth and development, such as attending trainings to broaden my skill set and the ability to co-design and oversee research projects. I enjoy being able to take leadership of my projects. Good time off procedure, and lots of holidays since the university is religious and observes national holidays.

    Cons

Sometimes the bureaucracy at the university can be frustrating. It often takes a long time to get things approved, especially salary increases.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Consider allocating more staff to manage procedural issues and offer free gym memberships.

I have been working at Georgetown University full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Resourceful and supportive community. Modern technology in the hospital and clinic offices. Caring and established professors.

    Cons

Metro does not go to campus, there is a separate bus system. Parking is severely limited. Construction projects seems to always be in progress.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Less construction detours and faster completion of projects.

I have been working at Georgetown University full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

This position offers a stipend and full scholarship. It gives me the chance to perform original research in literary studies and to work as a Teaching Assistant in the School of Continuing Studies.

    Cons

Of course, the stipend is quite low, but that's to be expected in a MA program. The quality of experience changes from semester to semester depending on who you work with as your professor.

I have been working at Georgetown University full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

I really enjoyed my two years as a Fellow at Georgetown University Law Center. The contacts I made were outstanding, there were lots of opportunities to engage in all sorts of intellectual events and other social and sporting activities. The legal projects I worked on were prestigious and involved interesting travel. University has good leave policies and benefits such as gym, cheap cafeteria, good working from home policy in my unit.

    Cons

Lack of potential to move upwards (all academic jobs like this at the moment). Academic bosses not necessarily good managers, but were well meaning.

    Neutral Outlook
