No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

Waste of Time

Financial Analyst (Former Employee)
Atlanta, GA

I worked at Georgia Tech full-time for more than a year

ProsThe best pro is I didn't waste anymore time doing the job. Wrong place wrong department and I would never go back.

ConsI worked at Georgia Tech for two years. Management was terrible. I worked before as a manager in the private sector and public sector. I took the job to go back to school and was treated like a mildly slow intern. My two managers might have been the most incompetent people I have ever met.

Advice to Senior ManagementHire competent people. Just because you have experience doesn't mean your intelligent.

Tons of employees who think they are rocket scientists who are lazy and unproductive.

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

I have been working at Georgia Tech part-time

ProsLol, I guess it's great if your a professor.

ConsAnything below middle management is treated like interns and students.

Advice to Senior ManagementAdvice wouldn't matter they already have everything figured out.

Great place to learn many skills, but difficult to get through the politics

Research Scientist I (Current Employee)
Atlanta, GA

I have been working at Georgia Tech

ProsIt's a fairly large organization, so it's easy to find people with similar interests and knowledge base to discuss and resolve problems. It's a great place to learn new skills and diversify, however sometimes it does not match with the current industry trends.

ConsAs a state institution everything has to go out to bid, so our own expertise is never utilized when making decisions or implementing solutions within the organization.

Advice to Senior ManagementFind a way to listen through the managers. Technology changes so quickly that it is difficult for managers to keep up. The people down in the trenches know the current trends. But beware of those who say they have done something; make sure to follow up with their peers to check the facts.

A great school, but a difficult place to work.

Program Coordinator (Former Employee)
Atlanta, GA

I worked at Georgia Tech

ProsGeorgia Tech has a well-deserved reputation for being a great school. Working around the best and brightest students is a treat. The energy and diversity on campus are wonderful.

ConsSurprisingly, GT has poor technology for staff members. Many silos on campus keep people apart, and prevent good communications. Professors have a well-defines career path, but no one else at GT does - the professional development classes are a mixed bag: some are good, but some are outdated and not a good use of time. The benefits package is complex and difficult to understand. It was difficult to get anyone in HR to answer questions - they usually refer questions to a website.

Advice to Senior ManagementPromote based on merit, not seniority.
