Great transition from corporate career to campus

Career Specialist (Current Employee)
Atlanta, GA

I have been working at Georgia Tech full-time for more than 3 years

ProsTech has an excellent reputation and is highly ranked among academic institutions. Colleagues and students are intelligent and easy to work with. The President is an exceptional leader who is very approachable. The campus is beautiful, has plenty of amenities, is constantly being improved and is an energetic environment to be in. Work/Life balance is excellent.

ConsCrime is an issue for urban campuses. The faculty and student body could be more ethnically diverse. Compensation provided by state institutions is not aligned with performance.

Great resources, peers, and work environment

PhD Student (Current Employee)
Atlanta, GA

I have been working at Georgia Tech full-time for more than 3 years

ProsHelpful approachable faculty means you can get the expertise you need. Two cleanrooms and numerous other user facilities means you have all the equipment get your work done.

ConsSome lab groups can be like fiefdoms... generally best to contact a grad student in the group and have them ask their advisor on your behalf.

Advice to Senior ManagementKeep up the user facilities. The cleanrooms and other equipment (SEM, TEM, SIMS) are a very valuable to researchers and grad students. They make it possible for groups to do experiments that they would otherwise not be able to do.
